4.0 out of 5 stars I'm glad I bought this book., August 15, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Mile-A-Minute Afghans (Leisure Arts #108200) (Crochet Treasury) (Perfect Paperback)
In the half-year since I bought _Mile-a-Minute Afghans_ I have started two of the afghans and have others in mind to do in the future. Its color pictures help in picking out a next project from it. Its instructions are clear, and it contains a variety of patterns--baby afghans and adult-sized, flowery, plain, and one with chain loop braid, which looks fancy but is easy to do. The feature that makes the afghans in this book mile-a-minutes is that they are made in strips, a nice compromise between squares, which require more joining, and one-piece afghans, which get hard to carry with you after a while, especially if you're making an adult-sized afghan. The one thing that I have had to keep in mind while working my first projects from this book has been that the edgings for the strips have not turned out well when I have followed the instructions exactly, but I have had to make only minor adjustments to solve the problem, and I can't be sure that it isn't my stitches, rather than the instructions, that are the problem. At any rate that small problem has definitely not made me at all sorry that I bought the book.

I would suggest this pattern book for beginners to advanced crocheters. These patterns are fun to work in different colors and sizes. Easy to do and very lovely when finished. Enjoy your crafts, Nina Labellarte

Lots of pretty afghans in this book with easy to follow instructions! Works up pretty fast too. If you have crocheted before, even as a beginner, this is a good book to try.

This review is from: Mile-A-Minute Afghans (Leisure Arts #108200) (Crochet Treasury) (Perfect Paperback)
I received this book and I was more than pleased with the contents. The 54 pages of afghans and the super clear instructions were great. There was a very nice variety of the mile a minute patterns that were from an easy level to hard. This book also shows how to do each of the crochet stitches used in this book, in a clear and concise manner. I would definitly recommend this crochet book to all users new to expert.

I've been looking for this particular book. Even though it was a used book that was taped together and written in, it was everything I was looking for. I love making mile-a-minute afghans. They can be made quickly and are great for gift giving. Most of the finished afghans get donated to the Women's shelter and Habitat for Humanity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Aghans, November 26, 2011
By
These are pretty afghans. The book has nice clear color pictures so you can see what you are trying to create. The directions are clear. You work in long strips and then stitch the strips together. It works up very quickly and you can easily carry what you have started without carrying a large bag full of afghan.

Enjoy.
