5.0 out of 5 stars A great reference book
The book title is a bit confusing to me since it does not really describe the LotusScript language. Fortunately, it does a great job describing the Notes Object Model, which is much more difficult to learn.

I develop Notes/Domino applications for a living and I find this book a great reference tool.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing and frustrating
This book is not for anyone without prior structured programming language experience. The editors did a terrible job in proofreading the book which leads to confusing statements, e.g., the last sentence in listing note 2 on page 72, the first word should be "When", not "Then". The object of each code listing is not always explained so the reader...

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good introduction to LS programming, May 5, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: 60 Minute Guide to Lotusscript 3 Programming for Lotus Notes 4 (Paperback)
Very systematic and clear introduction to the language and class-hierarchy. Sometimes, I would have liked to see the examples to go just a little bit deeper. Also, the book is now somewhat outdated, since 4.6 contains quite some enhancements of the classes.

Although I'm now more familiar with the basic LotusScript 3.x programming in Notes V4, this book is still of use for me and it was of great help when I started to write my first scripts. It's absolutely worth the money. The best thing is that all examples are complete. Some program lines in every script example are highlighted with a grey color and explained separately. Hopefully the authors will release an updated version to cover the upcoming new LotusScript Classes in Notes 4.6. Tip: You can also find some of the codes in a zipped Notes database archive at www.support.lotus.com - (The Customer Support Web): Search for ''60 Minute Guide'' and you will find it.

This review is from: 60 Minute Guide to Lotusscript 3 Programming for Lotus Notes 4 (Paperback)
This book is not for anyone without prior structured programming language experience. The editors did a terrible job in proofreading the book which leads to confusing statements, e.g., the last sentence in listing note 2 on page 72, the first word should be "When", not "Then". The object of each code listing is not always explained so the reader sometimes has to guess at what the code is trying to do, e.g. listing 6-9 on page 80. Related to that, the function arguments used are not explained so the reader has to compare the usage to the reference manual or online help to understand why those particular arguments were used.

5.0 out of 5 stars Valuable reference with great examples, August 16, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: 60 Minute Guide to Lotusscript 3 Programming for Lotus Notes 4 (Paperback)
While this book is currently one of two on the market I would still refer it to a beginner or a intermediate Notes Developer. The examples in this book can give you other ideas beyond what is published in it's pages. The concepts that are discussed in the book will aid in rapid Notes Development in versions 4.x to 4.52 and on. The way the information is written this book is a great reference that can be used quickly
