Great Gift for the Stressful!,
This review is from: Minute Meditations: Guided Imagery Meditations to Relieve Stress & Enhance Wellness (MP3 Download)
I bought this for my mother-in-law for mothers day a while back and after she started using it, loves it! Jane Ehrman really knows what she is doing; She was a great help with our family when my father was going through a recent surgery, and helping my father battle cancer with guided imagery.
Such a relaxing voice. The title says it all, a series of short meditations. They take minutes to complete and help all day.

Minute meditations,

I find this CD very relaxing. I have listened to it so often now that all I have to do is turn it on and my mind just lets go of the day and I soon find myself relaxed. I recommend this to anyone who is having trouble sleeping or just letting go of the day.

I have experienced guided imagery from several of Ms. Ehrman's CDs and have always been pleased. She has a soothing voice and the meditations flow well. I always feel relaxed and rejuvenated after listening to Janie. One of the really nice things about the Minute Meditation CD is the variety. There's breathing exercises, a power nap, transformation, protection meditations and more.

Yes, this album is meditations. Yes, they deal mostly with stress. That's where it stops.
My biggest complaint is that the title suggests the album is a collection of brief moments of guided imagery that last about a minute or so. That's exactly what I was looking for. During my work day, there are often times when I could use a very quick time-out, and the idea of "minute meditations" was very intriguing. So I was very disappointed (annoyed, really) to see that only one track even comes close to being a "minute meditation" at 1:47 and it's not guided imagery -- it's only a breathing exercise, which I don't happen to need (been meditating a long time). The actual guided imagery tracks start at 5:12 and go to 17:10. Hardly "minute meditations"...unless the producers meant "minUTE", not "MINute", and even then it fails (and would be really cheesy). In addition, I found what guided imagery there is to be superficial. I give a special eye-roll to the track "Power Nap" (11 minutes) which simply tells you to imagine what it feels like to sleep well for increasing increments of time. Please. In my never-ending search for effective guided imagery meditation, I've found several nice ones, but this one goes in the trash. |
