5.0 out of 5 stars A good overview of a cataclysmic problem
Having been chased out of a small town in the Midwest due to an influx of illegal aliens hired by local businesses obsessed with cheap labor, I take the illegal immigration issue very seriously. Being sick to death of "press one for English" I also respect what the Minuteman Project has done to publicize this issue and their demands that the government do something...

1.0 out of 5 stars "No" to the Minutemen, "Yes" to the Statue of Liberty
The last thing this country needs is a vigilante group of nativists skulking around the border.
Interestingly, 40% of people who are here illegally came here legally, and then overstayed their student, tourist or work visas. Hanging around the border, and spending billions of US tax dollars on a hi-tech fence, drones, stadium flood lights and detention centers...

5.0 out of 5 stars A good overview of a cataclysmic problem, July 12, 2006

This review is from: Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America's Borders (Hardcover)
Having been chased out of a small town in the Midwest due to an influx of illegal aliens hired by local businesses obsessed with cheap labor, I take the illegal immigration issue very seriously. Being sick to death of "press one for English" I also respect what the Minuteman Project has done to publicize this issue and their demands that the government do something meaningful to stop it. I found MINUTEMEN: The Battle to Secure America's Borders to be an excellent overview of the severe economic, social and cultural problems unlimited third-world immigration is causing. When the first world meets the third world, it's not the first world that's uplifted - it's the third world that drags everyone else down to their level, and that's what happening in this country. Hooray for Jim Gilchrist and Jerome Corsi for stating so clearly what our so-called "leaders" can't figure out - that we need to impose control on our borders, now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Read and Wake Up!, July 28, 2006

These two are true American Patriots. If you are not up on the problem with immigration, illegal and legal, you need to read this book otherwise you are going to wake up one day and wonder what happened.

Big business and the politicians in their pockets are about to take away the way of life we have built for ourselves. It's all about cheap labor, cheap products and the bottom line.

People need to pay particular attention to what is going on with the Security and Prosperity Partnership and the North American Union, this book talks about these hidden agendas which will end in the merger of the United States with Mexico and Cananda. These authors are bringing these programs out of the shadows. Another good read on this topic is "Fighting Immigration Anarchy" by Daniel Sheehy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding reading on such an important topic, July 31, 2006

This book proves Minutemen are not vigilantes, but are honest patriots trying to wake America up to the huge issues we are facing with our porus borders and illegal immigration. A MUST read for anyone wanting the true story of the failure of our immigration system. America was made great by LEGAL immigration with assimilation!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bringing Home the Bacon, July 25, 2006
This review is from: Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America's Borders (Hardcover)
After reading this outstanding book, Gilchrist and Corsi bring national awareness and "bring home the bacon" to the serious issue of illegal immigration. First and foremost, this great read brings attention to our lax immigration laws and the elected and appointed public officials responsible for this dilemma.

Who better than Congressman Tom Tancredo who is fighting the good fight regarding illegal immigration to endorse this great book? Americans are losing their country and it's time they stop tolerating the quislings, traitors and spineless sellouts that place "cheap labor" business interests and desperate pandering to illegal aliens ahead of American citizens and legal immigrants.

This book needs to be read by every American citizen and legal immigrant. Not only is it telling... but brings to light what citizens of the United States are up against with a "Do Nothing" Congress. You'll get more than an informative return on your investment when purchasing this book.

The Founding Fathers, in their wisdom, felt that their new fledging country would be helpless without the freedom to speak in the arena of ideas. In Jim Gilchrist's "Minutemen", he documents that freedom of speech is only free if the local power agrees with the message. He is shouted down, called vicious and vile names, and denied parade permits for simply trying to tell America they will no longer be a nation without border control.

He outlines at some length the motivations behind the open borders axis, from fuzzy-headed "We are all citizens of the world", the greedy business owner, the vote-seeking politician, the always politically correct educators, the Catholic church, and the labor unions. Always present of course, is the Hard Left anarchists and Marxists who will never miss a chance to cripple capitalism, and they have organized many of the parades and rallies. This grim package is breathlessly covered by the enabling Main Stream Media, where editorials appear on page one disguised as news.

Although a conservative, Gilchrist has harsh words for the current Administration for dereliction of duty by not sealing our borders against terrorists drug mules and the off-loading by President Fox of Mexico's criminals and the lowest classes of workers.

I rated this book 5 stars, but one of the most overlooked issues in this debate deals with the diseased Third World country the swarms are coming from. Tuberculosis, malaria and other diseases stamped out in America decades ago are now sharply on the rise. Gilchrist tended to become redundant in some parts of the book, which if trimmed back, could have left room for this critical issue.

Regardless, it's a well done book and worth the read.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's funny how so many call them racists, July 31, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America's Borders (Hardcover)
It's funny how so many call them racists, when so many of them are of many races, Hispanic, Black, Asian, American Indian, all good Americans.

Now tell me, how do you call a Hispanic American Citizen who is a Minuteman a racist? That doesn't make much sense.

Everytime I've tried to explain to someone that people DO CARE about the security of our borders, and they don't have a good response, they just get emotional and start calling me a racist. I guess I'd better let my wife know I'm racist, she's from Costa Rica, she might be rather surprized!

The Minutemen are just as concerned about WHITE PEOPLE who come across the border that's why they are on the Canadian border, too. But all these facts don't matter, right? They are all just racists. Uh huh. Yeah, right, sure.

5.0 out of 5 stars minutemen, August 2, 2006
This review is from: Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America's Borders (Hardcover)
America was built by immigrants...proud hard working people who entered this country legally. The problem we are faced with today are parasites...who slither through tunnels in the ground...or sneak past unprotected portions of our borders...or who invade through weak spots in our few protected areas, to drain our economy and send their ill gotten gains home to their own country. These are not immigrants, they are criminals...whether their skin is brown or black or white matters not...what matters is they are illegally in our country using the resources owed our children. Sadly this is being allowed to continue by our government, of the people, by the people, and for the people, because of economic incentives, and political posturing. Read this book to gain true perspective of the events...put aside the propaganda being handed out about racism and xenophobes.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book makes you really fear for our future!, February 13, 2007
This review is from: Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America's Borders (Hardcover)
A very accurate and disturbing portrait of the future of this country if immigration laws are not enforced. Some like to use political correctness in order to silence people like the Minutemen. But, as this book points out, the PC campaign is not succeeding. I can't help but to be impressed by people like Jim and the Minutemen. Since border and interior security has been pretty much abandoned by the government, the Minutemen are our first line of defense, maybe the only defense, against the illegal alien invasion. Pressure mostly from big business (e.g. Bank of America and it's policy of giving financial products to illegal immigrants) is to blame for this state that we find ourselves. Jim dares ask the very un-PC question that if we are a nation of laws, why doesn't our government enforce them? They did create these laws in the first place.

Jim and the Minutemen bring up issues that expose the hypocrisy of both the government (from the local level to the federal) and the pro-illegal left. There are so many barriers that the Minutemen face, but thank God, rationality and the truth is on their side!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Overview of Immigration, February 5, 2007
This review is from: Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America's Borders (Hardcover)
I was expecting Minutemen to be more specifically about the group of Americans who've taken up arms -- in this case, lawn chairs and binoculars -- to save our nation from invasion. While it does cover the all volunteer organization, it's also a comprehensive review of the big picture regarding illegal immigration. Jim Gilchrist and Jerome Corsi do a fantastic of giving us the big picture that explains why our government refuses to take meaningful action to secure America's borders. They go deeper than most other books on the subject and talk about how corrupt business executives recruit slave labor from Mexico, and even more outrageous, how our own government is planning what is basically a North American Union to merge the US, Canada, and Mexico. This serves to really explain why our borders remain porous over five years since 9/11 even though terrorists entering our southern border is a real threat. It also talks about the drug smuggling and human trafficking going on, and how many people are getting a piece of the action.

It's a very inspiring book showing how a group of concerned everyday Americans can take up the fight against anarchy and corruption. With a tenacity not seen since our founding fathers took up arms, Jim Gilchrist has refused to back down from the corporate supremacists, ethnic lobbyists, and liberal/neoconservative politicians who would all benefit from keeping the drugs and humans flowing across our porous borders. While I admire Jim Gilchrist's heroic service in Vietnam, with the Minuteman Project he's gone above and beyond the call of duty to truly become a modern day incarnation of the Minutemen of old.

Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great information, but redundantly written, August 29, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America's Borders (Hardcover)
There is a wealth of information in this book, information that needs to be known by as many people as possible. However, for me the authors spent too much time on the same information, giving it over and over again into redundancy. The book could have filled up just half the pages and said everything it had to say. I gave it 4 stars because of the great information, information not obtainable elsewhere unless one wants to do a lot of research.
