5.0 out of 5 stars Finally...an easy way to incorporate exercise into my life!
Bottom line: This book worked for me!

I think Jorge Cruise has a lot to offer and I certainly love his technique, but I believe his first book "8 Minutes in the Morning: A Simple Way to Shed up to 2 Pounds a Week Guaranteed" was by far #1. Here's why:

Bottom line: This book worked for me!

As a single mother working full time, I have (until now) found it nearly impossible to incorporate regular exercise into my life. Hours in the gym, bulky and expensive equipment, and time constraints are restrictive. This book changed that for me.
The exercises are easy to do, take little time or equipment, and are actually very effective! I have lost pounds and inches (in the right places!), and everyone at work compliments me on my progress. I have more energy too!

Jorge's exercise plan involves two strength-training exercises daily, and you do each exercise for four minutes. The only equpiment you need is a chair and a mat. The total morning routine takes from 8 to 15 minutes, including the brief warmup and stretches afterwards. You roll out of bed, do your exercises for the day, and you're done before you're even fully awake. That's about as easy as it could possibly get---but it works! There are three levels of difficulty, and you progress at your own pace. If level one is too easy, you can start on level two, then after a few weeks move on to level three.

Jorge's diet plan is basically a low-fat, low-calorie diet. He also stresses the benefits of flax oil. I have used the exercises in his book in conjunction with a low to moderate carbohydrate diet, and that has worked well for me. Your mileage may vary.

The book also provides great information about dieting and exercise in general, and gives many good sources to utilize as well. It's easy to read, and well-organized. The personal stories he uses as examples are real people, not supermodels, and I liked that.

I highly recommend this book for busy people like me, who aren't fitness junkies but want to incorporate some exercise into their lives.

I think Jorge Cruise has a lot to offer and I certainly love his technique, but I believe his first book "8 Minutes in the Morning: A Simple Way to Shed up to 2 Pounds a Week Guaranteed" was by far #1. Here's why:
- 8 min. flat belly had a lot of repeat information from the original 8 minutes, which is to be expected because they both market to others, but if you have already read and followed the original 8 minutes book, I doubt you'll appreciate this one.
- I FELT a lot thinner in all areas while doing the original 8 minutes routine than I ever did while doing the flat belly program. It reccommends mixing hip and thigh spot training with all over body moves, I just didn't feel a difference.
- The original has a few paragraphs of motivation before every routine, lean hips doesn't. The motivation was a big factor for me.
- The original has different routines every day for 4 weeks!! Lean hips has only 1 week of each level (easy, intermediate, hard).
I know every body is different and perhaps if you begin with this book you would like it, but my overall opinion is that the original is #1!!

This is THE exercise and eating plan book I've been needing all my life! The exercises are so easy and very little equipment is needed. Everyone can spare 8 minutes a day to do them. I feel great, have lost 11 lbs., and my pants are baggy in my thighs in just 4 weeks. The eating plan is very sensible and nutritional. I don't feel deprived at all because I can eat carbs, snacks and a daily treat. The book is easy to read and understand and is based on sound, recent nutritional and exercise standards. Jorge Cruise is the best!

I like the different exercises on every other day- it worked out pretty well for me with my week days- but some of the info seems to be rehashed over and over again in his books. Some of the moves bothered my low back at times- morning vs the evening so I changed around the execersies it seem to work. Hope this helps.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good For Several Reasons, April 9, 2006
If you are just getting started, time challenged, not interested in the gym scene and don't feel the need to 'have to' use the latest machines, etc. - then this book is a good place to start.

As a Pro Trainer I believe simpler is better for most people, especially those who are just starting out on their fitness journey.

Ladies, for something gentle and gradual - give this one a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book!!, July 24, 2006
This is a wonderful, easy and quick way to tone up your hips and thighs. I can definately see a difference in the 3 weeks that I've been following the program. As a mother of 3, it's hard to find time in my busy schedule for lengthy work-outs. This was the perfect solution. Love the book!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Motivator, March 23, 2006
This review is from: 8 Minutes in the Morning to Lean Hips and Thin Thighs (Paperback)
This book is fabulous!my travelling clients have found this to be an important resource, especially given that they find themselves in all kinds of different gyms across the country. So its only logical for them to utilize the equipment available. This is where this book has really helped.
I've also used the book to create some really intense circuits.I took it to a different level by arranging the workouts as a continous circuit.A must buy for those who are tired of trying to figure out equipment in the gym
