Not impressed.,

This review is from: 5 Minutes to a Perfect Golf Swing (10 if you're a slow learner) VIDEO AND HANDBOOK [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I just got done viewing the 5 minutes to a Perfect Golf Swing video and now wish I had spent the $25.00 I paid for the video on a nice golf shirt or maybe dinner with my wife.I've been playing golf for a couple of years and was intrigued by the notion that a perfect swing could be taught in 5 minutes, so I bought the video out of curiosity to see what secret I was missing out on. Mistake. There is no "big secret" and the quality of the video is extremely poor - I agree with a prior review that it looks like it was made in someone's basement. More surprising to me was that the instructor never actually demonstrated his swing technique by hitting some real golf balls. In fact, he never even placed a ball down in front of him. I'm a visual learner - that's why I bought a video - and I could have gotten just as much out of this had I bought an audio tape. If you're a relative beginner like myself, save the dough and go get yourself some lessons. If you feel like you need to buy a video, get the Tao of Golf. It goes over basic swing mechanics quite well, is much better produced, and the guy actually hits quite a few balls for you so you can see his swing in action and attempt to mimick it when you get to the practice range.

Focuses on principles,

Unlike many sports, golf just doesn't come easily with practice. A visit to any driving range will convince you that most folks can't figure out how to hit the ball long and straight. Something in the setup, perhaps the angle down to the ground, causes the vast majority of golfers to miss hit the ball. Usually they slice, over and over again. And even most senior citizens at the range do the exact same thing, even after hitting balls for 40 years. So most people don't figure it out no matter how many balls they hit. This author's explains and demonstrates the principles of golf so that you can have a decent chance at actually improving your swing. And this 45 minute video gets you working on the key elements of a correct grip, stance, back swing, weight shift, and release. If you've been practicing without seeing results then you probably need to review this tape and focus on the drills. If you skip the drills you will likely not grasp the significance of the instruction.

This video, together with the Perfect Impact book by the same author, simply said things to me that I have neither seen nor heard in any one of the thirty or so videos and books I have bought or borrowed over the last 12 months since I started playing. In my opinion the central message on this video should be in **every** single video and book on the market which purports to help those trying to build, or improve, a golf swing. But it simply isn't!!!All I can say is that after studying this material, I went to the driving range and hit the most effortless and longest shots ever, with two excellent players there - a teaching pro and a 5 handicapper - commenting on the sheer logarithmic growth in my ball striking....I suspect they think I'm getting lessons elsewhere else.. LOL.. Seriously, this video is heaven sent if you're a relative novice like me, ..I can't recommend it highly enough.

I have a dozen swing videos. All they have done is make me very confused. I have way to many things to think about during my swing. George shows you one simple technique. The secret to the left thumb. You don't have to worry about anything else. This "secret" will allow you to concentrate on one thing and everything else takes care of itself. He also explains the why's to what is going on. To me that is very important so on the course i can self diagnose and fix my faults because i know why it happened. It is not a flashy hollywood production but the info is.

After watching this video and practicing, I reduced my score 11 strokes! Now playing in the mid 80s and below is right around the corner. This video works. Trust it!

Poorly produced and a poor narration. Looks and feels like it was made in someone's basement in 20 minutes (30 if you didn't know how to use a video camera.) The secret is not a secret but a rehash of a traditionally taught (hitch hiker) motion. I would have returned this video but the rules say if you view it you own it.

I believe that this video tape is the finest specimen of golf instruction out there. I find it to be extremely easy to follow and offers a less mechanical approach to the golf swing. It has helped me eliminate a lot of unneccessary details when swinging the golf club. I have read many books and articles on the golf swing over the years and I found this to be the best. You are able to achieve, with some practice, the key positions of the golf swing without a hundred positions and thoughts. My scores have definately improved and with time and practice I am sure they will improve further. Because of the high quality of this tape, I have decided to order Mr. Hibbard's book and plan to get personal instruction from him in the future. I recommend this tape not only to beginners, but experienced golfers as well as it offers a fresh perspective on gaining the skills necessary to enjoy the wonderful game of golf

.... The tape comes with a small pamphlet and a poorlyworded supplementary piece of paper(?) containing some drills and the impact "secret". The material in the video is little more than the toe up (backswing) to toe up (through swing) drill done in miniature and worked on until developed into the full swing. A timed (!) piston motion with the right hand is added. Quite simply the
