4.0 out of 5 stars Works fine for intended use
I've only ever used these pencils to fill holes left by countersinking nails in new construction and for that, they work. Be sure to do all of your other finishing (wood stain, polyurethane, etc.) prior to using the product because it's just colored wax after all. As your last step, use a Blend-fil pencil of the appropriate color to fill holes and make them blend in...

3.0 out of 5 stars Almost works
Well, I wouldn't say it doesn't work at all. I have a veneer scratch that runs
with the grain, turn and runs 90 degrees to the grain. I could get the scratch to
fill where it ran with the grain, and the other part about 1/2 way up. The result was still better than nothing. I think if Minwax could come up with a way to get the wax to harden after awhile, the...

As your last step, use a Blend-fil pencil of the appropriate color to fill holes and make them blend in. It doesn't surprise me - as the other reviewers noted - that these pencils do a lousy job of repairing scratches. I don't think the manufacturer intended them to be used for that, however.

1.0 out of 5 stars Makes repairs more difficult, July 7, 2011
We bought this to use to repair scratches in a dresser, but it didn't work at all. We would have had better luck with a beige crayon. This wasn't even visible on the scratches. It appeared as though nothing had been done. Yet when we tried to use other products, we found the wax coating from this product made it impossible. The other pencils and markers couldn't penetrate the wax coating left behind. Not only did the Blend-fil pencil not work, but it made it even more difficult to repair.
