The Miniwax high-performance wood filler comes in a 12-ounce can, and is an ideal choice for repairing, rebuilding, or restoring damaged or rotted wood. Very effective as a wood adhesive, the 2-part compound can be used to repair wooden decks, windowsills, tables, chairs, woodwork, doors, and also works great for anchoring screws or securing loose joints in furniture. Weather, water, and rot resistant, the wood filler strongly bonds to wood as well as almost any rigid surface including ceramics, concrete, metal, and fiberglass.

This is a remarkable product and excellent for repairing damaged wood. It hardens and sands just like wood and is just as durable. It is easy to mix and just as easy to apply. For large/deep cavities I use scraps of wood to fill most of the cavity and then apply the Minwax over it - works like a charm and worth every penny of the cost.

This is just what the doctor ordered for my rotting window sills. For a couple years I was wondering what I was going to do about them. Replacement would have been time consuming and costly. First you remove as much of the rotted wood as possible. Then you apply Minwax wood hardener and wait about 1 hour for it to cure. This makes any soft wood hard so you have a good base to work with. Then you mix the wood filler and hardener (about the size of a large golf ball's worth). Then you just apply the filler to the rotted area and shape it as it cures. It will fully cure in a little over an hour. You can now sand it to shape or if you took the time to shape it while it cured you can just apply paint. Yes there are fumes but since I used it outdoors It was not a problem as I was not in the area of the window while it was curing. If you use it indoors the fumes could be a problem. When you are done the window sill looks brand new and you cant tell it was repaired. I repaired and painted 4 window sills in one day. Thank heavens this stuff exists.

I've tried lots of products. This is the best. Workable, sandable, strong, long lasting. I love it! Does it smell while curing, sure. If you want something green mash up some grass clippings and shove that in the voids where the rotten wood was. See how that works.
