I bought this because the MyFitnessPal app would be able to get information from the connection. When I received the system, I was able to upload data only once, and then never again. After an email discussion with MIO, they kept trying to tell me it was a Java error. The problem with that is that I tried the upload on 3 different computers, and every one got the same message. "Error: Cannot detect MIO device. Please make sure the MIO device is properly connected to your computer and refresh this web page. Also to upload and download MIO device data, it is necessary to accept Java applet in your browser. See our Upload Troubleshooting Guide to help solve some this problem."

THIS ERROR OCCURS WITH OR WITHOUT THE Active Connect in its cradle. And, I *know* the system worked ONCE, because I was able to upload data ONCE. Very very disappointed.

I bought a Mio watch on Dec 3rd and am enjoying the stats, not always accurate though. But my main concern is the quality of the watch face. I have an office job and do not do alot of physical labour, but i have discovered that the watch face scuffs extremely easy, this should not be. Mine is getting scuffed just from clothing, i know that sounds weird, i don't wear iron, but i have been very careful as to what i come into contact with, but i think it is very poor quality and at what point am i not going to be able to see the display? I expected much better quality, this watch wasn't cheap, but someone dropped the ball on the quality of the watch face.

Update to my original review (below): I have had the watch for about three weeks now and am still disappointed. Today, I cannot get the watch to sync online, even though I have ensured (about 20 times) it is connected correctly. This is quite frustrating, as I have been able to sync it before. I have sent an email to company asking for assistance. We'll see what happens. I think their connector system is was designed more to look cool than to really work well. I've lowered my review to a 2-star. Too bad.

First: I am willing to consider that my frustrations are based on user ignorance and I will update this post if things change. However, one week into using it, this purchase is not quite what I had hoped for.

On the plus side: This is a comfortable watch I don't mind wearing all the time. I really love that I don't have to wear a chest band to get a heart rate. I like being able to check my heart rate at any time.

On the negative side: My vision was that this watch would measure my heart rate while I exercise, then (once synched online) show me how much time I have spent in my target heart rate zone. I also hoped it would show me my current heart rate while I run (I tend to let it get too high). The steps it takes to do this are complex and I have yet to get it right. Again, this may be user error and I will update this post if I can master that.

I am disappointed in the pedometer. It shows that I walk a lot of steps while in the car. I realize that pedometers work on motion but I wish there was some way to pause the pedometer when I'm in the car. I've noted the steps before and after a car trip and I'm getting lots of credit for steps I'm not taking! If the pedometer isn't accurate, it has no value.

I actually purchased this watch from the Mio website, but thought I would leave a review to warn other people. I fell in love with the fact that this is the only watch I have found where I can input my calorie intake. The watch will then calculate calories burned to give you a net calorie reading for the day. However, it can be a bit of a pain to have to check your heart rate every time it fluctuates while working out to give you a close to accurate reading on calories burned. Yea, a pain, but not a big deal since I still liked that I could input calorie intake. Now here is the bad. The second you sweat while working out, and try to test your heart rate, the watch will tell you "PLEASE DRY" and won't take your heart rate until you dry off the watch, dry off your skin, and try again. Sometimes it takes several tries. This is the most idiotic thing I have ever experienced since the whole point of this watch is to use WHILE YOU ARE WORKING OUT AND THEREFORE WILL SWEAT! This was a complete waste of my money and it is such a nuisance to have to stop what I'm doing to dry the watch off to check my heart rate. I really recommend that you keep shopping for another watch before you decide to buy this one.
Also, I have learned that Myfitnesspal no longer supports this Mio watch, so you can't upload to their site.

I wanted to use it to track calories without a chest strap. Completely inaccurate. Not easy to link with MyFitnessPal either.

DO NOT BUY THIS!!! I purchased this watch in January. As others have stated I was able to connect & download the info from the watch only once. I spent the extra money just for the feature to connect & download information to MyFitnessPal which does not work. It was an extreme rip off. It also mentions that you should not get this monitor wet or it may not function properly. I had no idea they meant that when you sweat from a normal workout it would constantly warn you to dry the monitor & you can not check your heart rate. I assumed when they said water would impair the function they meant swimming, not a normal workout. Also the location of the buttons to touch for checking your heart rate are in a lousy & akward locations. Lousy design. This watch is a big peice of S***! The colorie burned read out is way off, heart rate is accurate about 50% of the time. DO NOT BUY THIS.
