The heart rate does not work at all when it gets even a drop of sweat on it.
J. Bailey
As others have noticed, as soon as you begin to break a sweat, the message telling you that the devise needs to be dry prevent any king of reading.
Rich Elliott
Definitely would not recommend for anyone who expects to use this device where one expects to sweat.

The heart rate does not work at all when it gets even a drop of sweat on it. If you do not constantly keep the HR current it does not track your workout well and thus making the product useless. I do not recommend this product but also can not find any other product like it for about the same price. My suggestion is to use an app on your phone instead. I give 2 stars, good try Mio but now it is just a paperweight while I am at the gym or running.

While the heart rate displayed is accurate (I have cross checked it), the product is totally useless during any sports activity. It may be suitable for walkers and those using it for routine daily chores but that's it.
If you run or bike and start to sweat, the monitor will not display the heart rate. One has to stop, take off the monitor, dry it thoroughly, put it back on and check the heart rate. This will work that one time. Unless the monitor is dried every time, it will not display the heart rate.
Definitely would not recommend for anyone who expects to use this device where one expects to sweat.

This thing needs to be in contact both on the underside of the "watch" and you have to hold your finger on the metal of the face part, for several seconds, to get a reading. And if you are working out, as soon as you start to perspire, it starts flashing a message: "Dry Please"

It does make an inexpensive wrist watch though.

I've been using this watch for a while now, and it has never failed to impress me. The heart rate monitor is incredibly accurate, you just need about a minute of wearing it before it will read it more easily. It is great quality too. It does not scratch easily, and the band is incredibly strong and comfortable. Also, did I mention that it looks great? It can be worn by me or women.

After a few days of use I have also discovered the persistent "Dry Please" message. Under low sweat conditions, it does what it says and can be very useful for people trying to get off the couch. I found it to be fun checking my heart rate and calories burned while vigorous walking, but the novelty wears off. In the gym, it's completely useless after 15 min. I may try some "Heart Rate Monitor Electrode Cream" to see if that improves results. However it does not seem that the competition has this problem.
