I purchased the Mio Triumph Petite about 2 1/2 months ago based on the reviews here. I have previously use strap based heart rate monitors, but let my self get too out of shape / overweight for that to be an option. When I first started using this it worked pretty well. Then I get in a little better shape, and working out harder. (I have over 50 lbs to lose.) When I work out so hard that I'm really sweaty the MIO can no longer accurately read my heart rate. It will often stop working or give a ridiculously low number. If I stop and dry my arm and the watch off it starts reading accurately again, but only until I build up a sweat again.

If your work outs don't get really that intense, this will work. If you plan to have sweat dripping of your nose while you hold a plank, then this isn't the right product for you.

I received this watch for Christmas and was very excited to get a heart rate monitor. I was thoroughly disappointed with this product. Not only is it difficult to manage, it also doesn't work. This watch doesn't even take my heart rate! I called MIO support and they gave me tips to make the watch read my heart rate but none of them work. I also made my boyfriend try the watch and it doesn't work for him either. It's very difficult to use when your running 8mph and you have to hold the sides of the watch to get your heart rate. I've held the sides for as long as 5 minutes and it still DID NOT TAKE MY HEART RATE. Over all, it's just a waste of money and I wear it as a watch instead of a heart rate monitor now. It's very disappointing. Don't buy it.

I have been using it for a month and I like it. Shows calories burned, although I am not quite sure how accurate it is (must have stop watch running to see calories burned) and you can input daily calories as well (I use my iPhone my fitness pal app to track my daily food/calories. Set myself for a certain goal and input that in the morning.) having this heart rate watch make me want to be more physical during my normal daily activities and also kick it up a notch to get heart rate at peak. My only con is having to almost come to a rest to take heart rate And depending on how sweaty u may be, it may take a bit to get a reading if at all. I just wipe my wrist and try again. Not too complex to use, still working out kinks because I didnt take the time to fully dive into the manual. Over all great product and a bonus it comes with an extra band!!!

I am so glad I got a heart rate monitor! It turns out that the calorie counters on the equipment at the gym count at exactly twice the rate that is calculated when actually figuring in my real heart rate (as well as age, weight, height etc). This device is user friendly and has held up to a lot of sweat! My only complaint is that sometimes it does not read my heart rate, especially when I'm moving. I just let go and try again and it usually works the second time. I might get one with a chest strap the second time around thought because this one had a hard time taking a read when moving and so I have to stop, or slow down to get a read. Not a deal breaker, just a slight inconvenience.

The watch works well, but the heart rate monitor is unreliable, particularly during exercise. The directions are hard to understand (and I'm a techie)and even more difficult to remember, since everything has to be done in sequence.

Reports on Costco.com say that this has quality problems as well, with buttons falling off and the watch freezing.

Luckily I paid less than $60.00 for it, and it has a good timer, so I'll keep if for that and the spotty heart rate info, at least till the buttons fall off.

It is great, no issues so far, the only thing is that it wont read your pulse automatically (by itself) you have to do it between exercises, something i wasnt expecting but it is in the manual (Their website)

My husband bought this for me as a birthday present. I wanted something to easily take my heart rate while working out. It rarely ever worked. I'd have to stop my workout and hold the button and hope it would read. I'd adjust it on my wrist, still no read. Every once in a while it would work, but not consistantly enough for what I wanted. If you want a watch, it tells time, but that's about all its good for.

My wife and I bought one of these each at Academy. I can't get the heart rate monitor to work, it did for the first day but was spotty, I just can't get it to read at all now. My wife's had some luck with hers but again very questionable performance on the heart rate monitor and very difficult to remember all the calorie burn settings. Taking them back to the store.
