Mirabai (1498-1546)is still remembered for her devotion to Krishna. She is known as the composer of many Hindu bhajans, which are religious devotional songs. She was deeply religious in her youth, and when her husband died, and she refused to commit self-immolation on his funeral pyre, she was turned away by her in-laws. Because both her parents had died, she had no where to turn and became an itinerant composer of songs to Krishna. This cd contains Mirabai's bhajans sung by Tripti Muhkerjee. Tripti does an excellent job of conveying the intense love and devotion felt by Mirabai for Krishna.
