5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Work by An Amazing Artist, December 2, 1999
This review is from: Mirabal (Audio CD)
This has to be one of the best CDs ever produced. From the catchy and hummable "The Dance" to the highly rockin' "Cyberspace Warriors" to the dark and sensuous "Tony and Allison" this is one amazing and absolutely enjoyable piece of work. Someone from a Top 40 station should listen to this work and give Robert Mirabal the airplay he deserves. Every Mirabal fan should have this one in their library.

5.0 out of 5 stars When there is suffering, there is the dance..., May 29, 2000

That's what slayed me. Marabal got me with that line. Get this CD, visit the Taos Pueblo, thin out your music collection, and DANCE. This is one of those seminal pieces of music that belongs on everyone's shelf. Next, check out Taos Tales.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ordering our THIRD copy because we've worn the first 2 out!, April 15, 2001

This review is from: Mirabal (Audio CD)
You heard right - our third copy! As far as my husband and I are concerned, no Native American artist can compare to Robert Mirabal. No other artist moves you the way he does. No one else writes lyrics and music that bring out feelings like he does. And his performances are better than anyone I've ever seen - of any genre.

This isn't your "father's" music - this is a cultural breakthrough for the Native American community - one that should have been a crossover long before country made the crossover move. If you haven't heard his music, you have no idea what you're missing, or how his music can move you - over and over!

I THINK THIS IS HIS BEST WORK RIGHT NEXT TO -TAOS TALES- THE DANCE SONG IS AWSOME AND THE MEDICINE MAN SONG IS GREAT THE LYRICS AND MUSIC IS THE WORK OF AN ARTIST BREAKING NEW GROUND IN NATIVE AMERICAN MUSIC TO THE NEXT LEVEL BUT HE STILL HAS A LONG WAY TO GO BUT HE IS ON HIS WAY...

5.0 out of 5 stars KICKY, FUN, INTELLIGENT MUSIC, November 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mirabal (Audio CD)
Robert Mirabal's work is characterized by its musical virtuosity and its social and spiritual consciousness. He packs a wallop without sounding preachy or strident. The CD Mirabal is a fine example. It's got hip-hop, rap, & rock motifs, as well as soaring flute and international sounds. The CD is anchored by a prose poem, Tony and Allison which is as chilling and real as an Ingmar Bergman film. And --this is music for dancing! Fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Artist!, April 9, 2004
This review is from: Mirabal (Audio CD)
Robert Mirabal does and excellent job in Music From A Painted Cave. The story that goes along with the music brings even more understanding to people about the native people and who they truly are and entertains throughout as well. Best Purchase I have made in my DVD collection!

I still prefer "Music from a Painted Cave". But if you like the music from the PBS special, you will definitely like this CD, as quite a few of the sounds were from there. It is nice to hear the original recordings.
