From the Manufacturer

2-Watt NASA Designed Grow Lite, Type R, 120VAC LED Light Bulb. Standard E27, Medium, Grow Lite Bulb. All the energy savings of any green alternative avoiding all the things you don't like in others. This light is for growing and fruiting plants - a perfect application would be for a kitchen herb garden. Instant on, no heat, and without the heavy-metal Mercury . LED lights do not produce any ultraviolet light, making them a better choice for homes that house expensive artwork and furnishings that can become damaged by UV rays over time. One LED light bulb can outlast 30 incandescent bulbs. LED lights operate at lower temperatures than halogen and incandescent lights. The latest in LED system electronics, thermal management, and mechanical and optical design, making the advantages of LED lighting a practical reality. LED light bulbs will eventually be what we use to replace incandescent bulbs - Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFLs) are a temporary solution to energy-efficient lighting. The reason LEDs have not yet displaced CFLs from the market are twofold: the first generation LED bulbs had a narrow and focused light beam, and the up-front costs of the LED bulbs are higher than incandescent or Compact Fluorescent Lights. The "sticker shock" of the new LEDs remains a deterrent to their widespread acceptance by consumers. However when LED bulbs are compared with CFLs and incandescent for overall efficiency and cost-effectiveness this deterrent should vanish. When considering the number of incandescent and fluorescent bulbs needed for the lifespan of the LED, along with the energy used during that lifespan, your savings will be exponential over your purchase price.

For the price this light is actually pretty good for seedlings, lettuce and other medium/low light plants however I'd like to see a spec sheet about specifically what wavelengths the bulbs are rated for.

For those complaining about the red/violet color; Target absorption wavelengths for efficient Photosynthesis (chlorophyll A & B) in is around the 600-700nm(red) and 400-500nm(Blue) anything outside of these bands are typically of little use for green plants.
Individual LED's are manufactured and tested for specific wavelength,Light angle, and power outputs
Any Led light that expresses almost all white may be good for general indoor lighting but really inefficient for plant lighting.

I bought 12 of these, 6 to use and 6 for replacements. They all started out great. Plants really liked them. But after about 3-6 months, I started thinking they were not as bright. At first I thought it was an optical illusion or me just getting used to them. But I bought Digital Light Meter here on Amazon and confirmed, the bulbs were down about half of the light output they started with. By 12 months they were down to about 1/3. I confirmed this by opening up the 6 spares I bought. Same thing: at first they were all very bright. Then over the next 12 months I tested them every 3 months. They all showed the drop in intensity. Some lasted much longer than others, but by 15 months all were down to 25-33% of the light they started out with.

The first ones were replaced under warranty, but the 2nd set were not because it had been too long. These are not as good as they seem, they do not last.

I've been working on an indoor garden w/ a baseline of variety of plants & since my apt. doesn't face South I've been making do w/ the little sunlight that comes in. Hence I chose to get these grow lights. I'm not sure what anybody else means about these not being bright enough but there is always a way around issues like that. I got small portable lamps w/ can-like tunnel openings that can channel the light directly onto the plant (s) you want for just under 13 dollars. This helps maximize the amount of light emitted from these LED garden bulbs by way of channeling. Plus, the 2 wattage is great for the electric bill. I'm happy w/ thees light bulbs. The seller always comes through w/ terrific results. If you're starting out w/ an indoor garden then these are the light bulbs for you.

One of the reasons people get such wide results from this light are that people don't have a light meter to measure the output of these lights. I do. When they are new, they put out a lot of light. Yes, it's red/blue and your eye is weighted toward yellow, so you don't see it, but the plants do. However, after several months I have tested the same lights with the same Digital Light Meter and on about half of them, the output is way, way down. So if you are okay with paying $20 for bulb that only lasts 3-6 months, this is a very good bulb. But if you expect a $20 light to last longer than 6 months, then this is not the light for you. Sometimes you get one that lasts for a long time, but it's rare.

I am pleased with the performance of the light. I have had it since Christmas 2009, BUT it only works for ONE plant at a time. Not well explained--and very pricey to just light a single plant. I am an avid indoor gardener. No way could I afford to light my entire collection with these.

I was suspicious at first why the second patch of plants after two months of using this LED light have slower growth? Reading the previous review over not the same light intensity after period of time used, I directly looked for the warranty and some information about the company?

Well, this company will not be the first LED manufacture (or perhaps importer, who knows) not to list their direct phone number! I have stumbled upon another company by the name of Lights of America with almost the same issue of almost fainted led light that been in use for less than six months. These two companies list their LED Bulbs that suppose to have much longer life span than regular bulbs. True it save energy but the upfront cost is ten fold than the energy saver bulb. Warranty sucks if you count the cost of shipping and why both companies hide their phone numbers? If they were trust worthy? Why you don't have a contact phone number people can call you for such instances?

For $27 cost I do expect better quality and less hassle warranty.

Bulb lasted less than 10% of the 30,000 hrs claimed. LED is the way to go, but not with this product. Not worth the effort to return it, so they won, I lost. Too bad Amazon doesn't screen its vendors better.

So I'm a closet grower and wanted the LED Experience, and also didn't want to quite spend 300 bucks on the UFO. So far The plants are looking good and growing towards the light extremely well. They are super green and are about 4 inches high. I am using 3 of them to surround the plant and so far is doing awesome.
