5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute must!
When my wife returned home from her shower in a u-haul I was a bit overwhelmed. I love my child but not all the gear that he came with. I find myself asking my questions like, "Why do we need two strollers if we never leave the house."
I don't mean to sound ungrateful but it was a bit much. Anyway, at the back of the truck was this small nondescript blanket. We...

3.0 out of 5 stars Still have to use a blanket for her feet
My precious DD (2 months old) is a Houdini when swaddled with two receiving blankets, and cannot sleep once her arms and legs are free. Granted, the Miracle Blanket does secure her arms. However, her legs are free to move, and she wakes herself easily. So, while the Miracle Blanket is great for arms, I still have to use a second blanket to secure her legs. Somewhat a...

I don't mean to sound ungrateful but it was a bit much. Anyway, at the back of the truck was this small nondescript blanket. We tried it for the first time when our son was a few weeks old and he has not slept in anything else. He is coming up on 6 months.
I love this blanket almost as much as my son and I am dreading the day when we grows out of it. (we use it now just to swaddle his arms since he is too tall for it)
I buy this for everyone I know that is expecting. It is amazing and on my list of 5 things parents must have. Car seat, diapers, camera and a blanket to lie on are the others, the rest of the stuff can stay in the u-haul.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than the rest, June 12, 2009

This review is from: The Miracle Blanket Swaddler formerly known as the Amazing Miracle Blanket - Yellow w/ Aqua Trim (Baby Product)
The Miracle Blanket is the fifth swaddling blanket we have tried; it is the only one from which our daughter cannot escape. It has an extra step for securing the arms that takes a little practice, but the extra step is what keeps her nice and snug so it is worth it. She still fusses in it some nights, but there are times when she really does calm down at the sight of it (this is a claim they make on the package and I was initially quite skeptical). She sleeps so much better when she is swaddled and does not have her flailing arms to wake her, so overall we are pleased. I am taking away one star because of the outrageous price for a piece of jersey cotton. Since I cannot sew though, I will grudgingly pay it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Only the BEST, February 7, 2008

This review is from: The Miracle Blanket Swaddler formerly known as the Amazing Miracle Blanket - Yellow w/ Aqua Trim (Baby Product)
I had lots of experience swaddling...the way Dr. Harvey Karp teaches you. And I HIGHLY recommend the practice. But when I used to swaddle with a regular (SwaddleMe and other) blanket, I would hear a muffled "mmmfff" sound in the middle of the night, and wake up horrified that my newborn had worked the blanket up over his head! I'm a pro swaddler - it was tight as an army-made bed, but Sam was a strong little cookie! I was worried he was going to suffocate, but didn't want to abandon swaddling altogether, since it helped him fall asleep so well.

The Miracle Blanket (MB) was a GREAT solution for us, and I used it until Sam was five months old, and quite strong. He never worked the blanket up around his head, and he slept soundly through the night when swaddled with the MB. At five months, I 'weaned him off' swaddling by wrapping only one arm, leaving the other arm free, and leading his thumb to his mouth - this worked great, even though he hadn't sucked his thumb before. Within a few weeks, we finished our swaddling days, and I only had to put the blanket in his hand, and he would automatically suck his thumb and fall asleep.

Now, at 12 months old, Sam is still a great sleeper. All I do is hand him a blanket, and he puts his thumb in his mouth and falls asleep. In the absence of a blanket, he never sucks his thumb, so I just make sure to leave the blankie in his bed. :) I'm so thankful that I got an MB, as it relieved my worrying and helped Sam get a peaceful night's sleep. I plan to buy more and use them exclusively with future babies.

P.S. It's a highly controversial book, but I'll go ahead and recommend On Becoming Babywise: Giving Your Infant The Gift of Nighttime Sleep. We had GREAT success with it - Sam slept through the night starting at 10 weeks, and he goes right to bed with no fussing, happy to be going to sleep. His naps are regular, and he gets a full 11 hours of sleep each night. Read the recommendations there, though: if you are (or could be) a 'schedule person,' you'll love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best swaddler out there!, October 5, 2007

These blankets are FABULOUS! You can swaddle your infant well -- no matter how big or small he/she may be. I tried the blankets with velcro and in order for the velcro to meet, my baby would have been flopping around. This blanket is oddly shaped, but works beautifully once you figure it out. I now buy one for every new mom or dad I know.

3.0 out of 5 stars Still have to use a blanket for her feet, May 2, 2009

My precious DD (2 months old) is a Houdini when swaddled with two receiving blankets, and cannot sleep once her arms and legs are free. Granted, the Miracle Blanket does secure her arms. However, her legs are free to move, and she wakes herself easily. So, while the Miracle Blanket is great for arms, I still have to use a second blanket to secure her legs. Somewhat a disappointment considering the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seriously a miracle, February 15, 2009
My baby girl can not wiggle her way out of this blanket and has been sleeping 7-9 hour stretches in it since she was two weeks old. Her big brother constantly worked his way out of his swaddle and would only do three hours at time till he was four months old. I will buy this for every new mom I know it is that great. Babies just calm down in it instantly. Doesn't get them too hot either. Washes great as well. Buy this if you have a newborn!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars It Does Work, But Not Worth the High Cost, May 6, 2010

The Miracle Blanket does work. It has a "pocket" where the baby's feet go in, and two little "wings" that you wrap around each arm. Then there's a very long piece that you can wind around your baby. So yes, it is effective in keeping your baby from working himself out of the swaddle.

But I've found that it's just as effective, and easier, to swaddle in the traditional way, using a regular blanket. The trick to getting a snug swaddle is to use a blanket that's larger than your typical receiving blanket (usually 30"x30"), and also to look for some stretch in the fabric. My recommendations are: Hudson Baby Organic Receiving Blanket, a 40"x40" blanket. Another popular choice is aden + anais 100% Cotton Muslin Swaddle Wrap, 2 Pack, which is large (47"x47"), has some stretch, and the breathable fabric keeps the baby from overheating.

Advantages of using a regular blanket is that they are usually more affordable so you can have a few in the laundry rotation, and they can be used for many other things beyond the swaddling stage, unlike the Miracle Blanket.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Helps Baby Sleep, May 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have 4 month old twins and these swaddles have been really wonderful. Initially, we were not able to use the Miracle Blankets because the blanket was just too big for my kids small premie sizes. But after about two months, we started using them and never looked back! When I had these in the washer, I used the Summer Infant velcro swaddle and they were both out of it by midnight. Needless to say, I RAN back to the Miracle Blanket and now I'm very sure to have the laundry done by bedtime! I use the Miracle Blanket exclusively and wouldn't use anything else.

What I like most about the Miracle Blanket is how it wraps around them several times keeping them snug. I also like how the arms get secured down by their sides. I truly think that if I didn't use this swaddle blanket on my son, he would have no idea what to do with his hands and arms because he moves them constantly. The swaddling signals him to be still and relax. Both my babies sleep very soundly in this.

Currently, my girl is 11.5 pounds and petite. My boy is 15 pounds and thick/chunky. She has plenty of room left to grow into it. While my son has lots of room for the wrapping part, he is running out of room in the foot pocket. On a side note, I noticed the white with blue trim Miracle Blanket is bigger than the blue one for some reason therefore, I use the white one on him and the blue one on her. I guess the cotton stretches more with the white one making it bigger??? My biggest concern is when they outgrow it, then what will I do? My plan is to keep them swaddled for 6 months if possible.

I realize these are quite expensive. I debated for a long time, not sure if I wanted to spend this much for a swaddle especially having to purchase two. Knowing what I know now, and having the experience with it that I have, I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome swaddler, December 5, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love this product. It allows you to truly secure your child, keeping him/her cozy and feeling safe (and minimizing startle reflex wake-ups), without forcing you to wrap very tightly and risk overbundling. The only downside is that your child might grow out of it quickly--it is not very long. I have heard of people cutting the bottom off so the child's feet can poke through, and continuing to secure the arms with the rest of the blanket, but I haven't done this myself.
