Jesus'Dialogue: "You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan;so how can you ask me for a drink?" John 4:9 The Jews and the Samaritans were considered mortal enemies during Jesus' time. Jews have desired the Samaritans to believe and behave the way they did, in the same manner, the Samaritans would have wished Jews would had followed in their tradition. Jesus dialogue with the Samaritan woman was his way to resolve the conflict and division in the AD Hebrew society. But the heal started to happen with the the help of his loving genuine care, spirit of openness, and mutual understanding he established. Reconciliation in Dialogue: Gregorius I (D. 604) wrote four books of Dialogues to honor the memory of the Italian reconciliating saints and to instruct on dialogue. Cardinal Ratzinger chose Benedict XVI, as following Benedict XV, whose teachings and dialogue on humanitarian diplomacy, combined with moderation, he may wish to continue. R. Howe summed up the importance of reconciliation as, 'Only through dialogue are we saved from enmity toward one another. Dialogue is to love, what blood is to the body...When dialogue stops, love dies and resentment is born. Only dialogue, could restore a dead relationship. This is the miracle of dialogue.' Book's readership: Contents: Importance of dialogue, Barriers to communication, Monologue to Dialogue, Purpose of Dialogue, Participants, Dialogical Crisis, Fruits, & Tasks Ahead. Dr. Howe, a teacher of a rich pastoral experience, dedicated this book to his students, 'who in dialogue became his teachers.' The book was presented initially as the 1961 Kellogg Lectures of the Episcopal Theological School, Cambridge, MA. It is one of the pioneer modern efforts to facilitate fruitful communication. This book, is 'A must read' for all politicians on Capitol Hill, pastors, and lay citizens.
