While not normally a big fan of Barbara Cartland, I have to say that I think this is one of her better stories ... Lord Mere turns out to be quite the dashing hero! I give it four stars.Description from the book back cover: Lord Mere is visiting Italy to recover a valuable necklace stolen from his sister when he discovers there is much more than theft behind the jewellery's disappearance. When he meets Florencia, who is engaged to her family's long-standing enemy, Vincente de Gorizia, Lord Mere quickly realises she is desperately unhappy and marrying, against her will, a man with an unsavoury reputation.
