Miracle Mile,
By A Customer
This review is from: Miracle Mile (Audio CD)
In the mid 70's, Dana Cooper and Shake Russell were the hottest commodities in regards to folk/rock music in Houston and through- out Texas. Its sad to see such great artists CD's not as readily available nationally as they are in Texas. They are STILL pumping out great music. With Miracle Mile, it appears that Dana has taken a step toward commercialization and one step away from folk, although the folk roots are still quite obvious. He is a GREAT folk songwriter as evidenced byprevious songs such as "My Gift to You" and "I Keep Having This Dream" from previous albums. Will the songs on this CD hold true? I think some will. Those of you who are fans of Dana Cooper, should add this CD to your collection.

Dana's vocals are superb. If you've ever seen him live you know that his musical talents are incredible. Coupled with the fact that he's a really nice guy - he's a joy to watch. I have all of his CD's. Can't wait for the next one.

I use to listen to Dana and Shake Russell in Houston in the 70's. Miracle Mile is one of the greatest songs I've heard in a long time. Dana's vocals are as pure as ever.

I heard about Dana through one of my coworkers, I took a chance and bought this CD and was pleasantly surprised. Dana has a smooth voice, his tunes are rhythmic and melodic, and his lyrics tell wonderful stories of life, love, and loss.
My favorites on this CD is "In My Living Room" - a nostalgic song about his childhood, singing to Beatles records and dreaming of meeting them, it brought back a flood of memories.

Great songwriter/lyricist from my hometown in Missouri. Miracle Mile stays fresh through the years. Thought of mostly now as a excellent solo singer/songwriter, but this effort contains songs that are more polished and produced than his others (not to put down his previous and newer releases). But with co-producer/engineer/guitarist Josh Leo and a cast of excellent musicians - Lyle Lovett, George Marinelli (Bonnie Raitt), Maura O'Connell) Cooper weaves a masterpiece. Put it in your player and enjoy as he lays it all out on the table and you are taken on a musical pleasure ride.

Dana Cooper keeps doing it like no other singer/songwriter can. He gives me faith in humankind, that a man can have so much passion. He reaches my soul by baring his own. His voice is important, don't miss this gem.

Dana's recent concert at Jefferson Freedom Cafe in Ft. Worth, Texas was so dynamic no one wanted it to stop! Dana alone on stage, Dana on stage with Shake Russell, and Dana in the studio are three different sounds, and three of the most excellent sounds ever shared with audiences. "Miracle Mile", Dana's latest CD and his first on Compass Records, shows his ability to do it any way he wants. He manages to knock your socks off with his unique voice - a vocal range to die for - his incredible guitar work, and a collection of songs that tell of a life open to the full range of human emotions...and the gift of being able to share this life unselfishly through his music. Dana has fun playing music, and it's contagious! Alone in your living room with "Soul Hesitation" shakin' your stereo, this story by an admitted "recovering Catholic" makes some hard points; the title cut, "Miracle Mile", demands introspection; "Walkin' Waste of Time" is a superbly concise commentary on escaping an abusive situation; "Sleep Of The Innocent" an unusual view of a return to his high school to play a show. Dana Cooper deserves alot more notice than he gets - "Miracle Mile" may change that.
