5.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Frank gets wiggy
Oh grow up, all you pop-punk spoilsports! 'Cuz growing up and taking chances is what Dr. Frank is doing on these odd, new experimental rock tunes, which delve into stranger terrain than he's previously explored. No, it doesn't sound like the last half dozen records of his that you already own... That's why you already own them: if you feel the need to listen to some...

3.0 out of 5 stars Passable
I guess everyone has to grow up and experiment sometime, this album is a departure but its ok , i would start with their older stuff first. Mr. Ramones is almost enough reason to buy it.

That's why you already own them: if you feel the need to listen to some brainy melodic punk, slap one of those classics on, and get off his back about the new stuff. But this material is a new direction, owing a debt to Robyn Hitchcock and Syd Barrett, with weird, liquid arrangements and keyboard work that branches out from the tried and true 4/4 guitar rock we all know and love. I, for one, look forward to a whole new album of this stuff, and whatever other brilliant style Dr. Frank comes up with. In the meantime, I recommend this curious little EP to MTX fans new and old... it's definitely worth checking out.

This is a great CD. Incredible. I sold my house to buy many many copies of this CD. Well, not really, but it's still pretty good.

5.0 out of 5 stars a positive step for a great band..., November 22, 2000
This review is from: The Miracle of Shame (Audio CD)
mtx has always been one of my favorite bands as they will always continue to be. i have always fancied their ability to differenciate their sounds from album to album. this is no exception. most pop-punk fans will be disapointed in this cd, if not offended, because it certainly isn't revenge is sweet/love is dead material. i guess one could say, at first listen, that its similar to alcatraz. but this album contains the feeling i couldn't find in certain parts of alcatraz (dont get me wrong.. i still love that cd)

also, dr. frank has a songwriting ability like no other. his songs are catchy, funny, and intellegent. however, if you think about the underlaying meaning, they are extremely meaningful. example: "i know you've been going through my pockets lately. at least i know what you've been going through." c'mon, how great is that?

finally, anyone who is looking for a new favorite band: look no further. mtx has it all as they show on "the miracle of shame" and hopefully they will continue doing this for a long time.

Just like every Mr. T Experience album, I hated it the first time I listened to it. Dr. Frank delivers pop sounds with bizarre lyrics. It will take a few listens to be able to digest this album, but you will find yourself loving it.
