4.0 out of 5 stars Warm and Fuzzy, April 4, 2000
By A Customer
The Miracle Wife is a fairy-tale within a fairy-tale. At the beginning of each chapter is a paragraph from a child's fairy-tale (The Great Dragon Hunt). The story follows along the lines of the faiy-tale.

Five year old River Sierra wants a mother. With the aid of a talking computer (think Star Trek) and several fairy-tale books written by the heroine's sister, River sets out to snag J.J.(our heroine) as her mother. Of course her dad, our hero, wants no part of this plan.

Is the story realistic? No. Is it amusings? Yes, most of Day Leclaire's stories are. Does it leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling? Definately!

If you like children, you'll love River. If you think computers are taking over the world (I do) you'll enjoy this story.

4.0 out of 5 stars dragon spells and fairy tales, deftly done!, December 9, 2004
This review is from: The Miracle Wife (Hardcover)
The review already given for this book sums up the plot quite nicely. Raven Sierra is a typically slightly-larger-than-life early Leclaire hero (as if you couldn't tell from his name!). I was disappointed that our couple wound up sleeping together before they bothered to get MARRIED!, but this is, all in all, a really neat story, as the characters in it follow the lines of the fairy tale. What I like best about it, though, is that it's the follow-up to Leclaire's story "Her Secret Santa," and brings back some of its most appealing characters. This is the story of J.J.'s escape from the cynical, soul-destroying life she was living, straight to the life of love and laughter she was meant to live. And it doesn't hurt that Mathias and Jacq Blackstone show up again, either!
