A Lovely Gift For A New Mother,
This review is from: Miracles of Motherhood: Prayers and Poems for a New Mother (Hardcover)
June Cotner has put together another wonderful gift anthology for new mothers. This is a wonderful format with a cover page for an inscription from the giver. The poems cover all stages of motherhood, helping a new mother reflect upon all stages which she and her baby are going through.

Capturing that "new mother" feeling,
By Armchair Interviews (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Miracles of Motherhood: Prayers and Poems for a New Mother (Hardcover)
This little book is a collection of short poems written for expectant mothers. Some of the poems and prose are versed as prayers or devotional thoughts.
The contributing authors, whose stories and ideas were gathered by editor June Cotner, do a nice job of capturing the emotional landscape of motherhood. Overall, the book's impact generates a warm sense that motherhood is a gift and a blessing, something to be treasured and valued. New mothers will appreciate the gift of receiving this book--an easy read while rocking a baby to sleep or during the infant's afternoon nap. Moms will be encouraged to contemplate the miracle they are holding or watching: "Somehow, you have managed to dilate my eyes, so that everything I see in this world is filtered by my love for you." This is a pleasant little book that serves its primary purpose well. If there's a drawback here, it's the relatively high price ($16.99 retail) contrasted with the small amount of content that is provided. But perhaps that is the core concept of the "gift book" genre. Armchair Interviews says: Nice gift for a new mother. |
