WOW! Is all I really got to say about "Mirage" such a great read and very hard to put down. I don't want to say too much and give anything away to thoughts who haven't read it yet. But there are some nice surprises in this book. One thing I will say though is I can't believe who the "Megved" was; I thought it was going to be someone totally different. I would recommend both "Haven" & "Mirage" to all my friends and family. I can't wait for the next book to come out to see what happens to Violet and Aidan and all their friends.

Mirage is everything a sequel should be. Introduces some new characters, keeps us updated on the characters we love, introduces new obstacles to the characters and is a continuation of the story we have a connection to which is why we are reading the sequel right? Kristi does all this and more in Mirage.

After being separated from Aidan all summer long, Violet can't wait to not only start her senior year at Winterhaven, but be reunited with Aidan again. Of course, the wonderful feelings of reuniting doesn't last long because Violet's visions start showing her horrifying things, however she isn't sure if she just had a vision, or if it was a nightmare since she was sleeping at the time. Violet ends up working with "Dr. Hottie" when he tells her he has the same gift she does, and he helps her learn to control her visions so she can understand better what she is seeing. I loved getting to know Matthew aka Dr. Hottie better and loved that he was more involved in this novel.

Aidan is once again relentlessly trying to find a cure for his condition and is in the lab constantly working on his experiments. The scary part is that he is still using himself as a guinea pig. And, as if all this isn't enough Violet also finds out more about the prophecy regarding who she is and what is meant for her and it could mean that she and Aidan will not share a forever like she dreams.

While there were parts of the novel that I saw coming, it held my attention and excitement throughout. I loved that Mirage made me feel a plethora of emotions. I sighed at the romance, laughed at funny parts, and got teary at the ending. That cliffhanger ending is one I didn't expect, and combined it makes for a read that I loved. I am a big fan of Haven the first book in the series, and I am happy to report my love affair with the series continues. I can't wait to see where the amazing Kristi takes us next. I am completely under not only the "Aidan effect" but the "Haven series effect"!

Kristi Cook is back with her second installment of the HAVEN series (Simon Pulse), MIRAGE. If you think vampires are done, think again ... because the mysterious--and sexy--Aidan Gray has returned to print and is in fine, fine form.

Back at Winterhaven--school for "gifted" paranormals like Violet McKenna--things aren't perfect even though they should be. A dangerous killer is leaving a trail of dead bodies, and Aidan and Violet need to work together to stop him before it's too late. Even though their relationship is stronger than ever, doubts begin to creep in, pushing them further and further apart, and as Violet trains to become the vampire slayer she was born to be, she begins to question everything ... including her trust in Aidan.

MIRAGE is the thrilling sequel to HAVEN, filled with old friends and new ones, an electrifying new plot chock full of mystery and intrigue, and a deliciously forbidden relationship between vampire and vampire slayer. It's the sequel you won't want to miss! This book will not disappoint. MIRAGE will keep fans of the series satisfied and wanting more!

My daughter and I both read Haven last year and have been anxiously awaiting the sequel Mirage. It definitely did not disappoint! I am just sorry I finished it so quickly, and now have to wait for the next book in the series. Winterhaven seems almost real, as do Violet, Aiden, Cece and the rest of the "gang." I highly recommend this book for young adults and parents too. Thank you author Kristi Cook - keep writing in this genre!

MIRAGE, the second book in Kristi Cook's Winterhaven series, once again draws inspiration from popular sources such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The Vampire Diaries, and Twilight creating a sequel that is no less fun for it's familiar story types.

Yes, Violet is a mystically chosen vampire slayer who falls for a vampire. Yes, the Aiden refuses to bite her and despises his own nature. Yes, it turns out Violet looks basically like the clone of Aidan's first love (something she discovers by finding an old picture in his room). And yes, there are plenty of other similarities, but just like with HAVEN, the blend and borrowing is mixed with just enough new twists and subtle differences to make the story work.

Apart from those basic premises, MIRAGE tells a unique story as Violet struggles to interpret her increasingly violent visions, harness her psychic gift with the help of a dreamy new teacher at Winterhaven's school for skilled students. Aidan is consumed with his quest for a cure to vampirism no matter what the risk. All this happens while a vampire serial killer is stalking the streets. None of that detracts from the ongoing emotional and romantic entanglements that Violet and her friends experience during their second year at Winterhaven.

Familiar but fun, MIRAGE is a worthwhile read for anyone who loves vampire YA in any medium. The third and final book in the Winterhaven series will be published in 2013. I'm already looking forward to it.

I didn't really remember much from Haven except that I enjoyed Violet's character, I was in love with her boyfriend Aidan and the story swept me away. Getting back into the Winterhaven world was easy though. There was enough recap to catch me up but not take away from the story.
It continues on as the new school year is starting, and keeps dealing with the issue of the cure, and other plotlines from Haven.
There are some steamy moments with Aiden and Violet and I loved those. There was also reasonable doubt placed in Violet's head, and I like that she pushes for the truth despite the consequences, and that she loves and accepts even when she finds out the truth.
There were some new characters and also some rocking returning secondary characters, and I also enjoyed getting to know them better in this one.
There are hints at a love triangle/square thing, and a bit of flirting going on, but I am glad that it didn't go beyond those hints. But I am glad that it explored that line with boy and girl friendships and how those work, and can be confusing and cause serious jealousy.
I really enjoyed this sequel and flew through it.

Bottom Line: Great sequel. Loved being in Violet's head again, and swooning over Aiden.

OMG I'm on the last book, eternal! The whole series is absolutely positively fantastic! I can't put them down, they and this book is a page turner! I got so involved in the characters I actually thought I was inside the book with them! I can't believe I'm saying this but it read better than the twilight series, and yes I was a humongous twilight fan! I have loaned out my first Brookhaven and I found that my second that Maras and now I'm reading the last one and can't wait to see what the Indians going to be like!

Mirage is a great book. I knew something was up with Matthew, even though I didn't know what until I found out who and what he really was. But at the end of the book, I wanted to scream when I learned what Aidan had done, even though it was unintentional. I gave this book five stars because it exceeded all of my expectations, and I absolutely cannot wait for the third book to come out. I love this series and hope that everyone who loves paranormal and fiction things will read it, too.

Mirage is the much anticipated follow up to Kristi Cook's captivating debut novel, Haven. I was so excited to finally get my hands on a copy of this book, and to also participate in the blog tour for the book! I just couldn't wait to read it. I remember in my review for Haven that I mentioned that the book and characters reminded me of The X-Men meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When I met the characters once again in Mirage, it felt exactly the same way!

Mirage picks up a few weeks after Haven leaves off. It's now senior year for Violet and the crew, and Violet wants nothing more than to see Aidan again after their long summer break apart. But their last year of school is not going as smoothly as they hoped. A rouge vampire is on the loose, killing innocent people, friends are pulling away from the each other, and people prove to be not at all what they seem.

I love the characters in this series SO much. Violet is such a strong character. I love the relationship between her and Aidan. Ah, Aiden... He's one of the very first male protagonists that I fell in love when I started reading YA books. He's so mysterious and alluring; I just can't get enough of him. Together, these two make a great couple. They definitely have their trials in Mirage, but their love is still strong.

Violet also has some really great friends that we get to meet again in Mirage. I love Kate, Sophie, Whitney and Cece. Although there is quite a bit of drama between them, they are all such great friends to Violet. We are also introduced to some new characters along the way, on in particular that I'm still quite unsure about. I'm definitely hoping that we will learn a bit more in the next book.

The storyline was very well thought out, and the pacing for the book was just right. I flew through this book in just a few hours time. The book ends on a pretty big cliffhanger, and I'm dying to get my hands on the next book just to figure out what exactly is going to happen next! (Oh, the agnoy!)

Overall, if you enjoyed reading Haven, you're definitely going to enjoy reading Mirage! This series just gets better and better. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Happy Reading!
