5.0 out of 5 stars IT'S VERY SMOOTH, BUT YET EXTREMELY POWERFUL!, December 7, 2008

I'm a firm believer in mirage products. They offer an extremely good value as far as other low to mid-priced speakers go. This sub has a beautiful gloss black box that isn't too big and looks very nice! As far as it's sound, as I mentioned it's very smooth, it won't thump and add bass to things like my previous cheaper subs did. If you like subs that thump a lot and add bass where it shouldn't be and are calling attention to them selves all the time, just get any off the cheaper name brands because this sub wont be for you! When called upon, this sub has the most musical powerful bass I ever heard! It blends in very nicely with music and has some extremely powerful bass on movies! Just ask my neighbors, I'm not even blasting my denon receiver when I play movies and the guy behind me has complained about it, the subs not even broken in yet, I've only had it a week. Mirage says to give it 50 hours to break in where it will sound better yet, my other subs were the same way to, they need time to loosen up a little before there at full capacity. I highly recommend this sub, at this price from crutchfield it's simply a steal and flat out bargain!!! This is a taste of what real high end audio sounds like!

Wow! After searching for weeks for the best sub in my price range, I took a gamble and went with the Mirage Prestige S10. I must say I was apprehensive about going with a 10" sub as opposed to a 12, but this thing puts out the power!
When it arrived, I immediately disconnected my out-dated 15" sub that couldn't handle home-theater rigors without popping or distorting, and put this baby to the test. Mirage states in the manual that you need to allow 50 hours of moderate play time before testing the limits of this thing, but I couldn't help myself! My test included "The Siege" in "The Last of The Mohicans" and "Under Attack" in "Master and Commander" and the Mirage handled both perfectly!
My current system includes a B&K AVR 307 with NHT VT-2 towers,a VS-2 center, and four ABSOLUTE ZERO surrounds so I'm not testing with some wimpy system.
The sound coming from this sub is earth-shaking! No distortion, no popping, just clean unfiltered bass where it's supposed to be! I would put this baby in the same category as many of the subs on the market today that are much larger and twice as expensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very clean and powerful subwoofer, January 30, 2011

This sub is very powerful and blends nice with my Klipcsh speakers (7.1). KHC-6 In-Ceiling Loudpeakers (4) for surround and back surround. Synergy C-1 Center Channel Speaker and B-2 Synergy Bookshelf round out the fronts. Yamaha RX-V665BL 630 Watt 7-Channel Home Theater Receiver powers all the speakers very nicely. This sub looks amazing with the piano black shell. Its fairly small for the power it puts out. After the 50 hour break in I have tested it with all sorts of media and various levels. I've had this sub for about 3 months now and have never been disappointed. It replaced the Klipsch Reference Series RW-10d subwoofer. The Kilpsch subwoofer was good, but I still felt like something was missing. The home theatre room is 17' by 27' with a 3800 sq ft 2 story house. Movies sound incredible. Despicable Me when the rocket takes off the whole house is shaking and sounds like a rocket taking off in the room. New Star Trek, Prince of Persia, Hot Tub Time Machine, Kick-Ass (7.1 surround), and all TV programming sounds great. Music sounds great as well. It is not a boomy fake bass, but a clean powerful bass. Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Guns and Roses, Flo Rida, NWA, Maroon 5, Megadeth, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, and Rage Against the Machine all sound great. Definately take some time moving the sub around the room to find the spot that the bass pops. Have someone adjust the variable phase while you listen in your favorite seat. This subwoofer blends nicely with the system and you can't tell where the subwoofer is in the room. I highly recommend this sub. If you live in an apartment, forget this sub.
