Detailed Description - 3-in-1 Sound DNA

Performing as an integrated LCR speaker, the Uni-Theater is an incredibly flexible and incredibly powerful design. After just one listen, you’ll discover its scale resembles that of being in a large auditorium or live concert arena.

Uni Theater 3-in1 Flat Panel Speaker

A two-way design, the speaker’s extruded aluminum enclosure is divided into three independent chambers. Each chamber houses an active 3-inch woofer, two passive 3-inch polypropylene titanium deposit hybrid radiators and a 0.75-inch pure titanium hybrid tweeter. Each tweeter is mounted in our patented Omniguide module, allowing the speaker to work with your room, rather than against it. This module recreates the proper proportion of direct and reflected sound, so you can hear the most lifelike performances throughout your entire room. The two Omniguide modules that coincide with the left and right channels are slightly angled in order to reflect the sound to the side walls, resulting in a large and spacious soundstage.

The Uni-Theater also offers placement ease. It comes with a flush-mountable wall bracket, allowing the speaker to protrude only as far as a standard flat-panel display. But if wall mounting isn’t in the cards, the Uni-Theater also includes a plate-glass and metal table stand that makes the speaker appear as if it’s “floating” above the base. A two-position boundary compensation switch on the back of the unit adjusts low-frequency response, allowing for unbeatable performances on or off the wall. While the Uni-Theater’s main use is for home theater applications, it also creates dynamic 2-channel presentations. In addition, a second Uni-Theater mounted on the rear wall can create an astounding 6.1 home theater system with only two speakers and a subwoofer.

The Science Behind the Mirage Sound: Exclusive Mirage Technologies

Omnipolar® Sound

Our Omnipolar approach to speaker design brings unprecedented performance to a variety of product sizes and room positions. This 360º sound philosophy works with your room, rather than against it, to create the proper proportion of direct and reflected sound. Being Omnipolar means our speakers embrace and optimize reflections; offer excellent imaging, width and depth; and perform optimally regardless of where they are placed in a room. In other words, they take full advantage of the fact they cannot be separated from your room. You get a completely immersive experience that permeates evenly throughout your entire listening environment.

Omniguide Technology

Our patented Omniguide module (patent #6,996,243), also the heart of Omnipolar sound, is an ingenious design that involves two deflectors. While one small deflector rests on top of the speaker’s tweeter, the tweeter itself is housed in a larger deflector, suspended over the midrange or woofer, depending on the design. The module disperses sound the way the ear and brain are accustomed to receiving it. Thirty percent of what our speakers deliver is direct sound. The other seventy percent is sound reflected off walls, ceilings, floors and other surfaces for a completely immersive, 360º experience. So, no matter where you sit, the enveloping sound follows.

Great product. Sound quality is superior, only very limited on the low end so make sure you get a sub. This is much better than a 5 channel surround sound bar. If you can handle installing the two rear channels in the back, like they were meant to be, then this product will do great for the front 3 channels.

So the speaker is great. First, I'm pissed I didn't setup my custom wiring to account for the fact the it controls left right and center speakers... oh well. Wish it had a way to bridge all the speakers to work as a "single center speaker"... but it doesn't. It sounds great. Installation was... challenging. Not that its a problem but they give you SOOOOO many options that it takes a while to figure out all the pieces and exactly how you actually want the speaker mounted. I ended up skipping the "glass shelf" which looks like its more for show then anything else. I had to remount it like 10 times before I figured out how to properly route the wires without crushing them.

Lastly there is 1 con... the steele screen on the front, its a BITCH to get on and off. DONT TAKE IT OFF TO LOOK AT THE SPEAKERS. Getting it back on was a total nightmare. The rails are so freaking tight it took me like an hour... maybe longer to figure out a good way to get the screen back on. Curiosity killed the cat, wish I would have left the front screen alone. Anyways, Mirage is always awesome quality, once you figure out how to get it installed, you will brush the sweat off your brow and think "wow, thats one sexy speaker i have there". If your smart enough to setup the left right and center on this speaker, you will save yourself some cash on speakers AND easily get a 7.1 system with just 4 other speakers (hopefully matching nano Mirage speakers.)

I was pleasantly surprised with the speaker after ordering it on sale last week. The speaker looks great. Very small with an amazing sound.
Very easy to setup. (Although the back of the speaker is a little tight with banana clips, I needed to connect the wire directly into the speaker directly).
Paired with my Yahama R667 receiver, I was impressed with the rich sound it provided. This was my first experience with a combined L/R/Center system and I am very happy with it.

A couple of years ago I got the OK to get a new home theater system from the MRS. The only requirement she gave me was NO Big Boxes. She was wanting it to be as low visual impact as possible.

The family room is large and not ideal for setup, but the Omnipolar speakers really open up the sound stage and give you a great sound. The Left and Right tweeters are aimed 45 degrees out to help expand the sound stage beyond the bar.

The system I put together was the Left-Center-Right Speaker on the stand in front of the TV.
6 Mirage Omnican OC-45 in the ceiling
2 Omni-S10 Subwoofer on either side of the TV stand. - I snuck these boxes in but she understood the physics.
System is driven by an Pioneer SC-57 and can run 9.2 audio.

I get a great home theater experience out of this system and feel the Mirage Omnipolars really are great technology.
I hear great audio steering and clear dialog out of the Mirage Unitheater Omnipolar Speaker.

I think that 2 Mirage Unitheater Premium Left-Center-Right Integrated Omnipolar Flat-Panel Speaker systems with a Subwoofer would make a great smaller room 6.1 system, mount the rear upside down up high on the back wall. Old reviews and Mirage themselves used to recommend this.

The one down side I see is Mirage was a Canadian company that Klipsch acquired in 2006 and has discontinued the line so if you want, it get it now, as they are disappearing.

Nice compact speaker system that fits in most AV cabinets. Avoids the in-wall speaker or floor standing speaker installation issues. Good sound quality for the size; however, does require a subwoofer.

I agree with most of the other reviewers. The sound though limited on the low end to 80HZ, the sound is very good throughout the rest of the range. When paired with a decent sub and a couple of similarly decent surrounds, it makes an attractive looking and great sounding home theatre option.
I have the Mirage paired with an old AR 10" powered sub and a couple of BIC rear book shelves, to be replaced in my new home by some decent ceiling speakers, and is powered by a pretty good Yamaha Receiver and the sound is much better than the sum of its parts.
I will soon move into a new house, and I intend to place it over the fireplace mantle beneath a 55" flat screen TV. It is better than the all in one bars in that they really can't reproduce the surround channels properly and most of the built in amplifiers are crap. I thought it was a reasonable compromise.
The downside is that the company was bought out by Klipsch and they discontinued the whole line which is unfortunate, because Mirage made some really good stuff. I did not buy it from an authorized dealer, so I don't think they will honor the warranty. From what I have seen of electronic warranty service, it's mostly pretty bad.

i LOVE this speaker. Left, right and center channels in one very sleek impressive package looking package. It works really well creating an expansive soundstage due to the unique Mirage design. The speakers fire upward into a 360 degree reffector filling the room with sound. It sounds best with a subwoofer. I have it on the wall under a 55" tv. I am using a sub but no rear surrounds and it sounds awesome.

I'm not using the glass/metal stand but if you need it looks very nice on the stand.
