Mireille Mathieu is Magnifique,
By
This review is from: Mireille Mathieu (Audio CD)
This new CD certainly will not disappoint you. My music collection of the incomparable Mireille Mathieu began many years ago. (I have more that 50 vinyl albums!) On this CD she continues her magic with each and every song. Beautiful interpretation of the lyrics combined with great orchestration makes this a must for the Mireille fan. Mireille Mathieu is magnifique!

Toute une vie...,

Here comes another album from French songstress Mireille Mathieu, this time around the material chosen for this CD is more optimistic than in her previous one. Mireille sounds fresh with this new collection of modern pop songs, three songs are penned by Bobby Goldsboro who was responsible for the hit "Tous les enfants chantent avec moi" years ago, Francis Lai's collaboration on 'Un peu d'espérance' is timeless. The album is rich and full with emotions & will surely satisfy fans all over the world.
Thank you Mireille...

HOW GOOD CAN SHE GET? BRAVO! 5 étoiles!,

People of good taste have been listening to Mireille for years. She is loved to death all around the world by those who love la chanson française (and songs in 8 other languages). This brand new, modern album is a superb addition to the impressive repertoire of France's greatest singer. With each album released, I wonder if Mireille could ever get better - and she consistently answers affirmatively!

"Nah bei Dir" (Near to You) is the latest German CD by Mireille Mathieu. It was released on about October 30, 2009, and is surprising in some ways, and is usual in others. The usual is that Ms. Mathieu sings well, is supported by good supporting singers and musicians, has good songs and musical arrangements, and records songs with diverse musical styles. The CD contains 14 songs, most of which are good and several of which are exceptional. The most exceptional songs are: "Leibt Lebt" (Love Lives), Das Licht (The Light), "C'est l'amour" (It's Love), and "Immer weider" (Again and Again). The surprise is the songwriters. Several of her long-time composers and lyricists are not represented in this CD. Most notably missing are composers Bobby Goldsboro and Christian Bruhn and lyricist Georg Buschor. Most notably present are lyricists F. Krake, Kareen Claire Duffot, and Tobias Reitz and composers Tommy Mustac, Patrick Hampartzoumian, and Mireille Mathieu. Yes, Mireille is credited with writing the music for two songs. I believe this is a first in her long and illustrious career. Wunderbar!

The cover of this CD causes much confusion about the name of the CD. The striking cover shows a pair of eyes and eyebrows (presumably Mireille Mathieu's) and the name Mireille Mathieu in large letters. However, the official title of the CD is "Que Pour Toi". The CD contains ten songs, including "Enfants d'amour et d'avanir" (Albinoni's great classic piece "Vivir de Suenos" with French lyrics), "L'enfants de Irlande" ("Danny Boy" with French lyrics), "L'amour viendra" ("Tara's Theme" from "Gone with the Wind" with French lyrics), "Maria Rosa" ("Immenso Amor" with French lyrics}, and "Mes soirs de blues" (My Evening Blues). In my opinion, these five songs carry the CD and the remaining five songs add little to its merits. Ms. Mathieu performs the five lesser songs well, but they are still lesser songs. This CD is good, but not one of her better CDs. You would buy it for the five good to exceptional songs.
