Book Description

Book Three in the Forever After in Apple Lake™ series, about three cousins who find love in Amish country. In Miriam’s Quilt, Miriam Bontrager has loved Ephraim for as long as she can remember. But when scandal rocks Miriam’s family, Ephraim decides that she is not worthy of him. Heartbroken, Miriam vows to never again trust anyone with her affections. But will she surrender her heart when a man of simple faith and gentle ways shows her how to love again? Seth Lambright has always found Miriam pretty, but she’s also too stuck-up to pay him any notice. That is, until she comes to his stable after Ephraim’s devastating rejection. Spending time with Seth’s horses gives Miriam comfort and helps her mend, but her presence nudges Seth dangerously close to falling in love. Unable to ignore the way Miriam tugs at his heart, will he risk everything to show her that there is more to love than the pain of bitter memories?

"Miriam's Quilt features well-rounded characters who are strong in their faith, even at times when it is sorely tested. At a few parts, the book does get overwhelmed with details, but this does not take away any enjoyment. Beckstrand's third Forever After in Apple Creek book contains well-researched details about the Amish way of life."  4-stars, R.T. Book Reviews

    5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars two times February 1, 2013
Kate's Song was my favorite book by Jennifer, Wait here it comes until I read Miriam's Quilt.
Ladies you are about to meet the perfect God fearing man that we all want to fall in love with, in this book.
I would love to really meet a man like Seth in real life. Seth is a character that you will never forget he is so forgiving and caring.
I never put this book down once I opened it up and started reading it.
Let me tell you if you have NOT read the Forever in Apple Lake series you need to go pick up all three books, and turn off your phone and get off Facebook and enjoy these books this weekend.
I give Miriam's Quilt 5 stars two times.
I was given a copy of this book by the author. THANK YOU SO MUCH Jennifer

I am thrilled to have found Jennifer Beckstrands' books. I enjoyed the story lines very much but more than that, Mrs. Beckstrand is great writer! She made me laugh and gasp and want and guess throughout every story. I have already preorder the next book and am eagerly awaiting its auto download. Keep them coming!

I had never read anything by this author but it was a great book.A lot of Amish stories are kind of slow but this one held my interest the whole way through. I would definitely read another of her books.

5.0 out of 5 stars You will LOVE this series! December 15, 2014

OH! That man makes me so angry I could…

    I could…

…maybe I need to practice forgiveness — as the Amish do.

But hold on, wait just a minute!

…I’ve let myself get lost in another story, haven’t I?

Yes, I admit I did. And Jennifer, please don’t think badly of me, because I must confess that last night, while staying in a hotel — with my granddaughter in the bed across from me asking me to please turn out the light — while I tell her, “just five more minutes, honey”… “four more minutes, please”… three minutes, and I’ll turn off the light”… “two more minutes, just two more”…

Thankfully, she finally fell asleep — with the light on — and Grandma read for almost another hour, until the last word was read, then I closed the book.

But I just had to finish the book!

It’s an amazing book indeed that can hold my attention, with such control.

Miriam is an intriguing character; she believes she’s in love with Ephraim, even after he coldly ends their relationship because her family “isn’t perfect” — like his.

Well, keep reading, folks… he’s not as perfect as he tries to let on.

Seth, on the other hand, is as humble as you or I would expect an Amish man to be; loyal, trusting, helpful, just full of good character!

I love sequels… and I was thrilled to find many of the people (well, characters) from the previous books, Kate’s Song and Rebecca’s Rose, in this sequel.

All in all — the perfect ending for the Forever After in Apple Lake series! (of course, that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t love to read more stores in this series, or another series which includes some of the characters from this series — hint hint).

If you enjoy reading novels from Jennifer Beckstrand, you’ll love this series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book! Miriam's Quilt. July 10, 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition
I was able to get a copy of this book at Jennifer's book signing a couple of weeks ago in American Fork, UT. I couldn't wait to read it and was so good that I got a copy. It was such a good read. There hasn't been a book of Jennifer's yet that I didn't enjoy.

Jennifer's style is very real to me. I can understand the feelings of all her characters and the situations that they are in are also very real.

The main character is Miriam Bontrager who has been "almost" betrothed to Ephraim. But because of some unfortunate events in the lives of Miriam's family members, she is no longer seen as "worthy" of him. He rejects her and no longer wants anything to do with Miriam or her family. To now marry her would be an embarrassment to him and his position as the Minister's son.

Miriam is devastated, of course, and finds ways to keep her mind off of Ephraim. Horses are a love of hers, and she comes regularly to see the foals at Seth's. She also finds that quilting helps her to find meaning in her life. She gives a quilt of special significance to Seth for being her friend through her heartbreaking time. As her heart starts to mend, she and Seth become good friends and he does not harbor cares and concerns about her family situations, because his family also bears difficult scars. They find their hearts healing and becoming happy, but is that enough for Miriam?

This is a wonderful book. I give it 5 stars. I think that this series, Forever after in Apple Lake is a must read for all Amish literature fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars I hope there are more in this series to come. March 19, 2014
I don’t know if there was a hidden message in the first two books of this series that I somehow missed or not but there was definitely a message in this one: Don’t judge a person without knowing their full circumstances.

Miriam’s Quilt shows us that a person is like a book in that way – they can’t truly be judged just by a look, by one meeting or one incident or one conversation.

I will say this too though, Jennifer Beckstrand seems to enjoy throwing in at least one character that we love to hate.

In the beginning of this book, I had two different candidates and then she threw in a third.

However, it soon became apparent that the first two candidates were much more a victim than a tormentor.

I would LOVE to say this does not ring true but I am very much afraid it does. There are people like this in EVERY community – Amish and English alike.

Even the characters that we loathe are written exceptionally well. The story draws us in immediately and Jennifer keeps you glued to the pages til the very end. I have flown through all three books, and that is saying something because I am a very fast reader to begin with.

Each one is a GREAT read and I highly recommend the entire series to everyone!

Now onto Jennifer’s Huckleberry Hill series!
