4.0 out of 5 stars Good Quality, Excellent Value
I have purchased every grit of Mirka sanding disks from Amazon, and I find them to be good quality. The price per disc works out to be a great value if you purchase them in packs of 50.

I used these disks on my Bosch random-orbit sander. The hook-and-loop backing is strong and holds on through rough sanding. The aluminum oxide sanding material lasts for a good amount...

3.0 out of 5 stars good grit but the hook&loop's sh*#
These discs line-up well on my sander and have a pretty good grit. They do a good job for as long as they work- UNFORTUNATELY more often than not the hook and loop backing gives out long before the grit of the paper. I have had this problem with several discs now, sanding away wonderfully and suddenly the disc goes spinning off the sander and will never reattach and grip...

The aluminum oxide sanding material lasts for a good amount of time. I've used them on a variety of wood surfaces, and I have used them to remove paint, and they last long enough to take down a lot of material. I have bought other brands of sanding discs that do last longer, but the Mirka discs definitely hold up well.

The discs are packaged in a sturdy box with a cover, which makes it easy to dispense them as needed. Also, having them stored in a box keeps them clean, which helps the hook-and-loop function. This actually helps out a lot in the shop. Other brands come wrapped in plastic, and you have to find a container for them, or let them sit on a shelf and get full of sawdust. I appreciate this extra touch.

The paper stock is somewhat thin, but this does not really affect their use. Since they are stored in a box, they stay flat. Other brands, which are stored in bags, get curled up on the edges.

Bottom line: these are good quality sanding discs that last for a good amount of time, are a good value for the money, and are packaged in a convenient way.

This is excellent stuff for those *really* tough jobs where you'd start thinking about getting a planer or similar "big" guns. Used this on my Makita orbital sander (which it fits just fine, in spite of the missing listing in the specs), and it stands up to punishment. Worked over a couple of 6x6 pressure treated beams and could get a reasonably nice finish pretty fast. These disks last surprisingly long, considering the work they perform. Also tried to use this to sand down a rusty old steel bulkhead coated with enamel, but the 60 grit doesn't cut it - you'll still need a steel brush head and lots of elbow grease for that kind of work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great 60 grit sandpaper, August 2, 2001

I recently bought the Mirka 5" 8 hole H&L sandpaper. I had used several other brands and was not happy with the staying power of the grit. Mirka seems to have built a product that cuts better and lasts longer than anything else that I have purchased. Well worth the money and in fact by buying a box of 50 I paid much less than than I had been paying for the lesser quality pieces.

Bought this for the Dewalt D26451K 3 Amp 5-Inch Random Orbit Sander and fit and work great. Also purchased the 80 Grit as well for slightly finer sanding. Haven't been able to find anything cheaper.

These discs line-up well on my sander and have a pretty good grit. They do a good job for as long as they work- UNFORTUNATELY more often than not the hook and loop backing gives out long before the grit of the paper. I have had this problem with several discs now, sanding away wonderfully and suddenly the disc goes spinning off the sander and will never reattach and grip the same again. I am pretty disappointed because the paper itself seems to do a pretty good job, but I can't stand all the 'wasted' discs. I have never had this problem with the Norton discs, so I don't think it is just me or my sanders. For lighter use they might be great, but then why do you need a 50 pack?!

These discs are great and last a long time. I've used them for stripping away paint from redwood, and for rough sanding new douglas fir. I would buy them again.

These discs work well sanding houselogs which have darkened with time. They leave some swril marks upon close observation but a quick go over with 100 grit would leave them quite smooth and looking good.

After buying 15 packs at the local hardware store for the same price, buying these by a box of 50 was treat. I've been restoring my 1888 Victorian house and doing a lot of sanding. It's nice being able to quick swap disks and when they're this economical, I swap them out when they should be for maximum efficiency rather than trying to make them last forever. Using new discs makes the sanding go so quicker. These also seem to work better without clogging as much as some of the other brands I've used.

Just came back to buy some more.
