Great paper, very good on fiberglass,

I have used this paper on a fiberglass kayak I am building. Compared to Norton paper that I purchased at another place, this paper has very little loading. I am still replacing it about every square yard of sanding but the Norton paper is pretty tired after about a square foot. The Norton paper also costs 5 times as much. This is a great product.

First of all I have to say that the reason why I happen to be writing this review is because I was on Amazon ordering another box of these sanding discs! There is no higher praise in my book than a return customer!
Now for the review: I have to agree with the other positive reviews and say that I have long been a fan of these Mirka sanding disks. I am a home woodworker whose projects range from DIY stuff around the house, to refinishing, to building fine furniture projects. I have been using these discs for years (in every grit from 80 to 220) and could not be more pleased with the smooth surfaces they produce with my rather inexpensive sander. I completely agree with the assessment that although these are not the absolute best hook and loop discs on the market, they have performed every task I have asked of them. Overall, I would give this product an A- for quality/performance, and an A+ for value.

Much like the 60 grit paper this has outstanding cutting and lasting capabilities. Would recommend it to anyone.

These were purchased for my Bosch orbital sander. They work great, especially if one remembers to start and stop the sander when it is on the wood. Otherwise it could come flying off after some use; but when used diligently as directed, works great. So much better than anything I found at the Big Box stores, who never really have a wide selection of anything decent.

I recently refinished my dining room floor. The floor had a dark stain and finish over oak. I wanted to see the wood and grain so I decided to sand and refinish with polyurethane. I used a large orbital sander on a floor in my last house and I wrecked my floor so I decided to use my hand belt sander and hand orbital sander and refinish this floor the hard way. My floor is 11x14 plus I redid a small 6x8 hallway and stairs going up to the second level. I used my belt sander with 80 grit paper but since it dug in I mostly used my hand orbital sander with 80 grit and 120 and 220 grit of the Mirka sandpaper. The floor came out pretty. I ordered 2 boxes of the Mirka 80 and I still have 1/2 box left and most of the 120 and 220 left. This sandpaper made my job so much easier. One disc will go a long way. I really love this product.

I strongly recommend those disks as they are cheap and well made (not China, it is actually made in Finland).
Take a look at the price at Home Depot, Lowe's or Walmart for the similar product.

I purchased a box of 50 discs in 80 grit mfg by Mirka. Was not sure what the quality would be since I had not heard of this brand name. I used on western red cedar with Bosch random orbit model 3107. My sander is agressive and these discs were totally up to the job. I sanded about 60 square feet before I noticed a slight drop off in sanding efficiency. I could have kept using the disk, but put on a new one to keep my project moving along. In total, I sanded about 150 square feet and was on my third disc when the day ended. I had no trouble with clogging, grit falling off, or the paper backer tearing. This is a quality product and I would not hesitate to buy other grits.

mediocre,
This review is from: Mirka 23-615-080 5" 8-Hole 80 Grit Dustless Hook & Loop Sanding Discs - 50 Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
I am disappointed with the Mirka discs I bought in 80, 150, and 220 grits. The reason is that they don't last very long. They simply lose their effectiveness in what seems like a fairly short time. When first used the discs sand nicely, and seem to cut rapidly without making swirl marks. Before long they are sanding very slowly, and if I use them too long they will make swirl marks. I used them on red cedar, a very soft wood, so I expected them to last at least twice as long.
I do think the grit is pretty uniform in size, as I got no swirls during the sharp cutting phase. I actually considered sending them back, but do not have time to find and buy better ones. I think I was spoiled by the discs I used at work which were labelled "Regis".

This is a top brand of sanding disc, one which I had never tried until now. I received these discs in only two days, and was very pleased at the fine quality. Comparing them to other brands I would say they are at least as durable, and possibly the best I have ever used.

You get what you pay for. I used these pads primarily on red oak. I know from experience the cutting diminishes quickly with hard woods, but I never expected this. The 80 grit pads wore down literally within 30 seconds of sanding. The 220 grit lasted somewhat longer. I'll go back to my old brand.
