Amazon.com Product Description

Mirro's 7-1/2-inch, 4.2-quart pressure cooker quickly and healthfully cooks foods with trapped steam at temperatures higher than boiling. It's the ideal size for singles and small families, and makes dishes for three to five people. Pressure cooking requires little water so nutrients, flavor, and color are not boiled away. Made of rust-proof, heavy-gauge aluminum, the cooker has a stay-cool, locking handle. Mirro pressure cookers are designed with safety in mind. This one features the "Triple Safe Design" with a safety release plug, sure-locking lid system, and side gasket pressure release. The inside of this cooker measures 7-1/2 inches in diameter and 5-1/2 inches high. Total measurements are 14-1/2 inches long and 8-1/2 inches high. The cooker is covered by a 10-year limited warranty.

Mirro pressure cookers are not recommended for glass or flat-top ranges. They are constructed with a concave bottom, which will prevent the cooker from coming up to pressure if used on a flat range.

3.0 out of 5 stars Safe, but...., August 8, 2004
We have owned this pressure cooker for a few years. It has served us pretty well and has frustrated us plenty as well. The gaskets in these break down and release all of the pressure. You may end up playing the game of opening and closing the pan a few times to get it to pressurize. It is a good sized pan for doing a bag of beans, or a simple meat dish for less than 6 servings.

If you have been afraid of the pressure cookers, don't be any longer. These gadgets are very safe and will turn you into a world class frugal gourmet. The safety features are so numerous and foolproof that they border on ridiculous. The old days of exploding pressure cookers is gone; unless you can find a way to bypass at least 6 safety mechinisms. Buy one, maybe not this one, and save on cheap meats and low priced beans and legumes. They cook up so tender and so flavorful and so fast that you will never want to live without one again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bottom bulged, so it wobbled on the stove. Do not buy this cooker!, June 13, 2008
This review is from: Mirro Aluminum 4.2-Quart Pressure Cooker (Kitchen)
I purchased this cooker a couple of years ago. After a few gentle uses, I noticed that the bottom was warped, causing it to wobble on the stove. I know that if it's not sitting flat, it's not making good contact with the burner. I don't give space in my kitchen to products that can't stand up to use. Do not buy this Mirro pressure cooker. It isn't worth the money. I bought the Presto stainless steel 4qt pressure cooker, and can't say enough good things about it. Read my other reviews. You'll see that I don't give negative reviews unless they are deserved.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pressure Cooker user, September 15, 2009
This review is from: Mirro Aluminum 4.2-Quart Pressure Cooker (Kitchen)
This smaller cooker works fine for our empty-nest family. I would have rated it as 5-star if it had been furnished with a grid to prevent scorching. Otherwise it works as I expected it would.
