Book Description

April 26, 2006
Addiction, Recovery, and the Battle Within This is a true story. This is an inspirational story, especially for those with similar experiences in their personal lives, and for the loved ones that comfort and support them. It exposes the general reader to a type of existence, which they have probably never encountered. There is an incredible depth and breadth of the various emotional and psychological responses the reader experiences as this personal saga unfolds. As a result, it broadens the understanding and gives a greater appreciation of this segment of our society. Starting with the first memories of the author during childhood, she chronicles the years of her life. The dramatic impact on her life from he relationships with her father, mother, brothers, sisters and other relatives, causes one to ponder the source of her inner drive and ability to survive. The author has had the courage and determination to share the emotional, mental, and physical aspects of her life with the reader, in the hope that triumph out of apparent chaos will inspire others to strive for a similar goal. R.L. Hatton, MD

I do not think it is a coincidence that addiction ran rampant among my siblings.
I believe it is at least in part hereditary.
It is also a destructive reaction to a painful existence.
None of us wanted this when we grew up.
I am sure none of us thought it would happen.

But the fact remains that not only are we an addicted bunch, but we all have had additional issues with relationships.
We have all made poor choices, many with devastating consequences.

We were taught by the masters.

As different, disconnected and dysfunctional as we are, we are bound by our weakness.
