Book Description

July 4, 1993
'Why, Cara, why did you do it?' 'Maybe no one wants to see me as I really am. Maybe in this family it isn't all right to be different. And I am different, Kitty, whether anyone wants to admit it or not.' 'But, Cara,--it just seems like tonight you set out deliberately to cause trouble.' 'Even you don't understand, do you, Kitty?' 'I do, I mean I'm trying to. You're my twin, I want to understand!' 'Yes, I know we're twins, but who am I?' demanded Cara hotly. 'We're not like paper dolls cut out of the same cardboard!' Although identical in appearance, the Cameron twins were dramatically different in temperament. Cara, vivacious, adventurous. Kitty, sensitive, introspective. But these differences had never kept them from being each other's best friend, confidante, and close companion; that is -- until one fateful summer -- the summer everything changed. It began as a carefree vacation at Cape Cod; a summer filled with sailing, swimming, shell-searching, dances, and parties. But slowly Kitty starts to suspect that her twin is keeping something from her. Puzzled, hurt, and more than a little resentful, Kitty longs to find out what it is. But something hidden in her own heart prevents her from doing so, because Kitty has her own secret she cannot share.

5.0 out of 5 stars even more love and heartbreak for the Montrose family, July 4, 2000
This review is from: Mirror Bride (Brides of Montclair, Book 10) (Paperback)
Mirror Bride focuses on the next generation of the two main families in the Brides of Montclair series, the Camerons and the Montroses. Cara and Kitty, the twin daughters of the Camerons, are anxious to find love and find it in unexpected places. The Montrose children, Kip and Merry, also find the love and happiness. Will willful, impulsive Cara settle on the quiet, sober ministerial student or the boisterous, playful Kip? Will Kitty, the quiet soft-spoken opposite of her identical twin, ever tell who is her heart's desire? Will Merry carry on a clandestine romance, knowing that the object of her affection would meet with her doting mother's stern disapproval? Finally, will Kip ever decide which twin it is that he loves? In addition to the romance ups and downs of the four young people, all is not well with the older Camerons and Montroses as heartbreak awaits them after the maiden voyage of the Titanic. This was a great book; each one in the series is better than the last.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great addition to the Brides of Montclair!, February 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Mirror Bride (Brides of Montclair, Book 10) (Paperback)
I have been a fan of the Brides of Montclair series ever since discovering it over 10 years ago. To be honest, I had started to become a little frustrated with the post-Civil War books in the series. Jubilee Bride, in particular, seemed to run more on plot and less on the inner lives of the characters which had been a strength of the earlier books. This book, however, was an enjoyable read and had many of the strengths of the earlier novels. Cara and Kitty are both strong characters and the reader is allowed to get inside their heads somewhat and learn about their feelings and what motivates them. In addition, this book gave new insight into their parents' lives. While I wish the reader could have gotten to know Owen a bit better, the story of Cara, Kitty, Kip and Merry still drew me in. I came to care about what happened to these characters and enjoyed seeing the Montrose and Cameron families adjusting to a new century and getting their lives back together after the Titanic disaster.
