Lois McMaster Bujold is truly a wizard of character development. After many books driving you to fanatic support of Miles Vorkosigan, Bujold finally gives you a good look into his supporting cast. Poor Mark finds himself face to face with his clone borther's "pack of Amazons" after he botches an attempt to destory the Jacksonian organization that cloned him. Though Miles' part in the story is inert, we get to see another side of him through the eyes of his family and friends. Perhaps the most revealing look, however, is not into Miles himself, but rather into his brother. In this book Mark finds his own place and his own strength within the Vorkosigan Family Saga

Mirror Dance is a scrupulous look at what defines the borders of family and friendship. The reader will come away with a new respect for the family that created the Miles Vorkosigan and the effect he has had on them in turn.
