4.0 out of 5 stars Music that compliments the film!
This is a great soundtrack! I found the music quite catching and Barbra's performance memorable. Even Richard Marx does well! For those who like listening to sountrack music, this is a relaxing, easy listening cd. It is as pleasant as the film. I highly recomend it even to non-Streisand fans.

2.0 out of 5 stars Solid, but forgettable, film score.
This soundtrack to Barbra's third theatrical film as a director (which was a box office disappointment, by the way), consists mostly of Marvin Hamlisch's instrumental score (which frequently uses a "Love Theme" written by Barbra). The lush score is solid, but inessential. There are also four vocal tracks on the disc, but only two are from Barbra. The duet with Bryan...

This whole CD is so totally fulfilling and then it is topped off with a beautiful vocal by Barbra... and my favorite Pavarotti! I listen to this so often I'm afraid I'll wear it out. I highly recommend it. Barbra has once again put her heart and soul into it's beautiful score. You will love it. Kudos also to Barbra's longtime friend Marvin Hamlisch. What a team!

The duet with Bryan Adams, "I Finally Found Someone" (#8 Pop, #2 Adult Contemporary), was a smash hit, and was even nominated for a "Best Original Song" Oscar. While the song (written by Hamlisch, Streisand, Adams, and "Mutt" Lange) is a pretty typical power ballad, the beautiful contrast of Adams' and Streisand's voices make the track a memorable one.

The other Streisand track, "All Of My Life," has a nearly identical melody (but with different lyrics by the Bergmans), however it is completely uninteresting without the contrasting duet vocals. The other vocal tracks ("The Power Inside Of Me" by Richard Marx, and a brief snippet of Pavarotti's "Nessum Dorma") aren't particularly memorable either. Other than the appearance of "I Finally Found Someone," this release is really little more than a pleasant diversion and only of marginal interest to most people. Based on the strength of the hit single, it surprisingly did manage to hit the Top 20 on the Hot 200 and go Platinum.

Imagine buying this CD after seeing "The Mirror has Two Faces" fully expecting the SOUNDTRACK music to the movie, and reading overall great reviews on Amazon. Imagine the shock of receiving the CD and the surprise of hearing 20 brief cuts of plain instrumental music out of the 24 cuts - The remaining 4 cuts contained very short lines of verse. Perhaps Barbara, with her tremendous unlimited wealth, felt she would be giving away a "free album" to the masses if the soundtrack contained the vocals in the film. Shameless misrepresentation.

Loved the Stars - the theme - ESPECIALLY THE MUSIC! Help me find the percussion group that played at the Christmas celebration at Columbia and if anyone knows where that can be found. Great Chritsmas Instrumental Music

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Score, November 18, 2005
This review is from: The Mirror Has Two Faces: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
The Mirror has Two Faces is one of my favorite movies (within the top 10-15) and I found myself watching it for the zillionth time, and I was humming along with the score, bobbing my head, etc. I realized how intricately the music is woven into the fabric of the film. I decided to buy the sountrack, and I love it. It's the perfect studying music, relaxing music, romantic music. Upon playing the songs, I could see the corresponding scenes in my head. That's how well the songs mirror (no pun intended) the action in the film.

I give the sountrack 4 stars just because some of the songs are quite short. I was looking forward to the full version of Nessun Dorma but was disappointed about that (so I still have to purchase Pavorotti). But that's no big deal.

If you enjoyed the score in the film, you'll enjoy this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful relaxing albumn, February 2, 2004

I first saw this picture and then got the CD. I think the music is magical. The music is soothing, relaxing and very romantic. I have hundreds of CDs, but this one is exceptional. I also thought the picture was cute. This CD is really more a musical soundtrack rather than a vocal soundtrack.
