Kelly Does It Again,

This review is from: Mirror Mirror (Audio CD)
Just when you thought her debut album Scent Of A Woman was superb .. She is back with another SUPERB effort .. She really came back with an album that surpasses her debut.. All the tunes are great one of the most touching songs on this disc is The Lullaby this is a beautiful touching song to her children ..The song also features her two children Jeffrey Jr and Jonia.. The other song on this disc that really moved me the gospel song I Know Who Holds Tomorrow, this song really blew me away worth the price of the CD alone.. Her remarkable remake of the Shirley Murdock tune As A We Lay is simply great.. I usually dont particular care for a lot of remakes but she does on great job pretty much true to the orginial version.. Other noteworthy tunes Cant Run Away, the incredible duet All I Want is You Featuring K-Ci & Gerald Levert, She Wants You, At Least( The Little Things), Mirror Mirror .. This is truly a great effort from one of the premire singers.. It is worth every dollar, If you enjoyed her first album you will simply love this one ..

Mirror, Mirror On The Wall, Kelly Price Outdoes 'Em All!,
By "sweet_berri" (Washington, D.C.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mirror Mirror (Audio CD)
Kelly Price has come back with a new attitude on her second project, Mirror Mirror. She comes across more of a self-assured, confident woman on this cd than she did on Soul of A Woman. Guest appearances on this cd include R.Kelly, Method Man, Gerald Levert, K-Ci, and even Jeff Jr. and Jonia (her children). Definite hits include:She Wants You- Acknowledgement of the scheming woman who her man says is just a "friend" 3 Strikes- For the man who has just messed up too many times Married Man- Confronting her lover who obviously 'forgot' to tell her he was married All I Want Is You- A confession of infidelity **As We Lay**- A remake of the 80's Shirley Murdock hit (My favorite) **I Know Who Holds Tomorrow**- A gospel song that simply overflows with Kelly Price's gift of soul and voice. (Another favorite) I definitely give this 5 stars because it displays her growth, not only as an artist but a woman. Pick this one up. Its' hot!

Soulful Woman,

Kelly Price returns with Mirror Mirror, her sophmore effort. It leads up to its expectations, and even more! She is a wonderful singer and has a beautiful voice. You feel like she is singing just for you, like she was your friend or something. My favorites include the title track (AWESOME). I Know Who Holds Tommorow and As We Lay, you can just feel the power and emotion in her voice. Another touching song is The Lullaby, which is dedicated to her children, who sing with her. I think Kelly should duet with Mary J Blige. They would sound great together. If you like R&B/soul type music, this is a great cd for you!

I really enjoyed Kelly Price's first album and anxiously awaited her follow up. I am so glad that I was not disappointed. Not only did Kelly come back with a new album, but with a new look. She looks great and the album sounds great.

Kelly Price - Diva 2000 and Beyond,
By JQ (Aurora, CO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mirror Mirror (Audio CD)
Kelly Price has an angelic voice and she has a way with her expression that truly makes you feel her pain the way that good, ole R&B did. I can listen to her cd over and over and not get tired from begining to end. The lullaby track with her children is very beautiful and poetic. Kelly Price is a true diva and she embodies the essence of R&B and she is keeping true the tradition. I have a problem when I have to censor an R&B album in the car with my son because it has a parental advisory sticker on it. 'Mirror Mirror' has very sultry music, not hip-hop tracks with a piano to make it sound like R&B, she is not raunchy and tasteless. Hey get a cup of hot coca, a warm blanket, or curl up next to the fire, add one companion and 'Mirror, Mirror' and let nature take it's course. Kelly Price will take you on an emotional ride and you will look deep in your soul and come up refreshed or checking yourself what ever category you may fall in you won't be disappointed this is what music is about. ONE- JQ

Kelly Price's album Mirror, Mirror comes pretty nice. She has a very nice, full voice, which doesn't sound "whiny" like Mary J. Blige's can, yet sounds soulful and she can certainly hold her own on the slower tracks, such as the beautiful "She wants you", the wonderful collaboration with K-Ci of Jodeci and Gerald Levert, "All I want is you," which sounds like a duet, "The lullaby", "Married man," and the remake of "As we lay," which does Roger and Shirley Murdock justice. Most of the faster tracks also sound quite good, most notably the duet with Method Man, "Like you do." However, her rich voice is much more suited to slower songs. It is nice to see an artist not selling out to the rap wave too much these days (though the Method Man track is the exception). This album is different enough from other releases these days trying to ride the rap wave (like, for example, Mya's latest) and offering ten guest artists on the album's fifteen tracks. The production is good overall and it serves to complement her beautiful voice, rather than drown it out which happens often when the singer isn't quite as talented. If you enjoy contemporary R&B that focuses on the singer's voice rather than the beats or the guest artists, this album is for you. If you just want something to pump in your car's stereo, you may be better suited with something else.

Theres a new princess in Aretha's Court,
By Jonathan (Wichita, KS) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mirror Mirror (Audio CD)
And that princess is Kelly Price. I bought the cd "Mirror Mirror" the first day and have not stopped listening to it since. The lyrics are great and her vocals are outstanding as usual. Heres a track by track run through. 1-Mirror Mirror(interlude): This is hilarious, and the background music is good too. 2-Good Love: This is more of a dance track, with a driving beat and happy feeling 3-You Should've Told Me: One of the albums standouts. It truly shows Kellys superior vocals. 4-At Least(the Little Things): A typical R.Kelly track, great lyrics, great vocals, outstanding production 5-National Anthem(interlude): One of my favorite cuts on the album, wayyy too short in my opinion. R.Kelly should know better than to be cheatin on Kelly! 6-She Wants You: Kelly really pours her heart out on this one. This one seems like a sequel to "Friend of Mine" from her first cd, and she addresses the man this time. 7-3 Strikes: My least favorite track on the album. Still good though. 8-Mirror Mirror: My #3 favorite on the album. Kelly really wails on this one. 9-Can't Run away: My #4 favorite, has that funky feel, would love for this to have been a duet with Erykah Badu, but oh well, still great. 10-The Lullaby: My # 2 favorite, this is a very touching song, you really feel her love for her children, and they sing well too 11-Married Man- Has that Soap Opera feel, about a scandalous married man who does Kelly wrong, it seems like Kelly has had her heart broken more than a few times 12-Like You Do: The mandatory rap-cameo song, Method Man is the perfect one to duet with Kelly, its like his follow-up to "You're All I Need to Get By" 13-All I Want is You: Gerald and Kelly really mesh on this one, K-Ci seems a little out of place. 14-As We Lay: tie for #1 favorite, this song should be the one to win Kelly her first Grammy, the vocals are simply breathtaking and no one can say they don't feel Kellys pain on this one, simply phenomenal 15-I Know Who Holds Tommorow: tie for #1 favorite, Kelly has to do a Gospel album now, she has no right to deny us that pleasure! The song just amazing, no other word can describe it 16-Love Sets You Free: taken from the Hurricane Sdtrk, good song, Kelly gets overshadowed by the number of guest starsThe album has only one glaring flaw, it should have been a double CD so we could have heard more of her voice! This album is priceless in its quality and combined with Kellys new look(she looks more beautiful then ever) should be a sure Platinum plaque for her. Good Luck Kelly, and BUY THIS ALBUM!

Kelly P. Doesn't Have the Sophmore Jinx!,
By "moorehouse" (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews

Kelly Price is one of the true singers that we have out today. If there is any doubt about this then one could listen to her first album and for sure they would agree with this statement. If there was still any doubt, then take a listen to Ms. Price's 2nd Album, Mirror Mirror. Just about every cut on this CD is top notch. She even has a children making their recording debut on Lullaby, which I think is my favorite cut on the CD. Cut #13, shows how K.P. can hold her own - she has a song with K-Ci(who can me known for taking control of a song - but not this time) and Gerald Levert. Kelly's voice blends in very well with the two gentlemen. She even does another song with R. Kelly which is a part II to a song that she did on CD #1. If you like Hip-Hop she even has Method Man banging a some lyrics oon Like You Do, it is tight! The girl is jut tight to death, plus the fact she really looks good with her new look. She surely is something to look at in the Mirror. I would highly recommend this CD to everyone who enjoys true R&B music. Her personality shines through every song on the album. I'm alresdy waiting for the third and new CD. I hope that I'm not being too gready Kelly. Oh by the way welcome to the ATL, and I really did enjoy you on V-103.

Kelly Price's Mirror Mirror doesn't show her talent,
By alisha hardy (us) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mirror Mirror (Audio CD)
Mirror Mirror is a good attempt by Kelly, but it does not show the power or the expression of her voice. Instead on this album she continues with the trite formula of the typical R&B record instead of using her voive to make divine expression. Her album focuses on the typical problems of love gone wrong. The song "You Should've Told Me" focuses on all the reasons why she couldn't be with one particular man. "The National Athem" features R. KElly over the music to the national anthem is Kelly Price and R. Kelly arguing back and forth through lyrical expression. However, the good songs on here are the classic "As We Lay," "All I want is you," "Love sets you free," and "The lullaby." This album receives 3 stars for following the path of a typical R&B album with an amazing voice.

Real R&B,
By
This review is from: Mirror Mirror (Audio CD)
When Kelly first came out back in 1998, it was already evident that she was not one of these new Mariah Carey kinda singers. She was a true R&B Aretha like singer. Fueled mainly by the fact that I liked 1st single AS WE LAY and there werem't 2 many other good CDs out at the time, I bought this CD. Well, in order to fully enjoy it one must be an R&B lover b/c the songs are pretty soulful. Some of the best songs are the midtempos such as LOVE CAN SET YOU FREE, 3 STRIKES, YOU SHOULD'VE TOLD ME, and ALL IS WANT IS YOU. Kelly has a nice voice but as said you have to like the R&B to really enjoy the CD.
