This review is from: Mirror...Mirror (Paperback)
I purchased this book and as soon as I received it in the mail, I couldn't put it down! The book covers many real life situations we face today, both the good ones and the bad. There are so many twist and turns and the whole time you are reading it, you just keep wondering what's going to happen next. Also, the main characters are so realistic! Any reader of this book will find a character to relate to and it definitely hits home. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking to read a tale about life, love, relationships, excitement, drama, romance, hardships, girlfriends, boyfriends, sister-friends...etc! I can't wait to see what this author comes up with next because I'm sure it will be another hit!

3.0 out of 5 stars What Do You See In The Mirror?, April 13, 2010

MIRROR... MIRROR is the story of five friends living life and dealing with the punches thrown their way. Paris Brussard is a successful lawyer and married to a wonderful guy, who only wants to make her happy, but that doesn't seem to be enough for her. Angela Carrington is a beautiful woman who sleeps with men for money in order to live the life she wants. Tracey Peters, a college professor at a prestigious university, has a lot going for her including her recent engagement. Christina Atkins is a beautiful model enjoying all the finer things in life due to her beauty and rich father. Jaslene Stephens, the founder and owner of Up II Date, a magazine that has taken the world by storm, is living her dream life with her soul mate at her side. Everyone who looks at these women cannot help but assume they have it all together, but as each woman looks at herself, she sees something completely different.

Throughout the story, these friends are faced with obstacles of death, infidelity, homosexuality, and deceit that can change their destiny. As each obstacle arises, they each must take a real hard look in the mirror at their lives, their decisions, and their friendship. Some of them will overcome their obstacles, while others will not. The question in the end is "Will they finally like what they see in the mirror or will they simply stop looking?"

After reading MIRROR MIRROR, I walked away with three lessons and reminders about life. The first is everything is not always what it seems. The second is friendship can help you through just about anything. The third is you are ultimately responsible for your fate through your decisions. Even though, I walked away with these valuable lessons, I still had issues with the book. I found it hard to believe how naïve some of the women were suppose to be. I can't believe Angela makes a living sleeping with men and thought her only risk was becoming pregnant. I also think the book was slow moving, although the book is only 182 pages, it felt longer because it was slow moving.

This review is from: Mirror...Mirror (Paperback)
Mirror...Mirror is definitely one of those books that makes you realize that "you can't judge a book by its cover". Just when you think each character is living the "fairy tale lifestyle", you soon find out that each person is battling with their own secrets. The description of the settings are so vivid! It makes you feel like you are actually in the story :) The author did an outstanding job with this book! Mirror...Mirror is a must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bethany Bourgeois Shows Herself To Be One Of The Talented New Authors Of Them All In 2009, December 11, 2009
This review is from: Mirror...Mirror (Paperback)
What separates the millions of books that flood into online as well as brick and mortar bookstores? Real talent and a story you can enjoy. Author Bethany Bourgeois delivers both in MIRROR...MIRROR.

Taking us into the lives of characters that are not anything what they portray themselves to be, Bourgeois reminds us of what can happen when we think our reality can be eternally hid by perception. Transitioning effortlessly from 1st to 3rd person, we get into the thoughts and mindsets of the characters as well as get an idea of the circumstances that cause their actions.

This is truly a book that deserves your attention, and an author that deserves to be watched as her career continues.
