Book Description

April 1999
A new collection of distinctive writings from the pen of Kahlil Gibran, rendered into English by Joseph Sheban, also a Lebanese living in the United States. From the wealth of poetic prose left behind by the latter-day prophet of the Middle East, Mr. Sheban has selected some of the most meaningful, yet unfamiliar. The volume is prefaced by a biographical study of Gibran, including the women in his life.

Review

“Art is one step from the visibly known toward the unknown.” —from “Handful of Beach Sand”

“But the children of tomorrow are the ones called by life . . . They are the seed dropped by the hand of God in the field, breaking through its pod and waving its sapling leaves before the face of the sun. It shall grow into a mighty tree, its root in the heart of the earth and its branches high in the sky.” —from “The New Frontier”

5.0 out of 5 stars No one can use words like Kahlil Gibran, March 26, 2000
This review is from: Mirrors of the Soul (Hardcover)
Kahlil Gibran leaves me breathless with every book I've ever read from his collection of poetry, love letters, short stories.. etc. I have absolutely fallen in love with him, and am sure that he is one of the greatest men to have ever lived. His mind will boggle yours with his words of love, encouragement, many other things (read The Prophet). I really don't know what much else to say other than there is nothing better than a good Kahlil Gibran book, because all his books are good. Better than good, they are the best. Enjoy him! I have, and will forever more.
