You have to flick your thumb in order to ring this bell. When your coming up behind people and your ringing it they don't even realize the noise. As I was ringing the bell, I passed someone and they were like "oh I didn't know what that sound was"...So if you want a loud recognizable bell then don't get this one. It's not worth it.

This is a really nice bell with a sharp, crisp, pleasant sound. I actually installed two sounding devices on my electrified bicycle. The "very loud" AirZound air horn (for those insulated inside of cars with their windows rolled up, listening to their iPods, talking on their cell phones while drinking a cup of coffee and putting on their make-up while slapping the rowdy kids in the back seat) and this Mirrycle Incredibell XL bicycle bell (for pedestrians and bike trails). This bell does get acknowledged by others on bikes or by pedestrians who simply smile and step out of the way. This is in stark contrast to the rude hand gesture that I once received from pedestrian being warned with my AirZound air horn.
The bell takes up very little real estate on the handlebar (right or left side) and can swivel 360 degrees into position for the easy "thumb flip" action. I recommend the Mirrycle Incredibell XL to anyone needing a sounding device for their bike for bike trails and quiet streets. However, this bell would be totally ineffective in city traffic. For city traffic, get the AirZound horn (world's loudest bike horn). Now, THIS is the one that REALLY gets people's attention.

Loud, yet polite. Easy to use. Being able to adjust the position of the "dinger" is a great feature!
The other bells I've purchase for myself and my family have a relatively short life span, due to too many moving parts. I expect this one to last a long time. Sometimes simple is better.

Great bell! Simple design makes a nice loud DING noise as many times as you flick it. Unfortunately, it can't make people any smarter. I'm not even sure I really need it, since people ignore me anyways.

The direction the hammer points is a bit off, other than that the build quality seems alright. I would purchase again.

It's not a horn.,

I found that the air horn, even when used at its softest volume and shortest beep, scares the pxx out of pedestrians. The Ding of the Incredibell is the proper attention getter.

Love this bell. Easy to install. Does not ring...it just dings. People hear you coming without sounding like a kid on a tricycle. Good buy for the money.

This basic bell has a dignified look to keep your ride from looking silly with some kiddy bell. The sound is also distinct and loud.

Good Things Come With Two Clear Rings!,
This review is from: Mirrycle Incredibell XL BLK Bicycle Bell (Black) (Sports)
The perfect *polite* way to announce your presence to others.
It brings smiles and waves from pedestrians and folks in their yards. It confounds the hard of hearing, 'What the h*l was that?!?'. It delights children and pleases their parents. It soothes anxious dogs and draws further disdain from cats. It's just plain FUN. :-) While perfect for back rural country roads, it would be near useless on city streets. It is just what you need when you need just enough. |
