Brutal Death Metal that is actually consistent, April 25, 2005
See, fellow Death Metalheads. This is what Death Metal should sound like. Death Metal played brutally and harshly while being consistent at the same time. One of Holland's (The Netherlands) bands is getting better with this second album, Misanthropic Carnage. Severe Torture exemplifies this fact. With lyrics full of gory fun, this band knows how to play their instruments well, unlike Cannibal Crock. Ultra-deep growling, insane blastbeating, and overwhelming guitar riffs sum up this album. There are some songs that have outstanding guitar half-solos in the midsection of the vein. The best (and my most favorite) song of this album is Your Blood Is Mine. There are also three bonus tracks featured in this album and the production of these songs are almost clearly refined in a good way. These songs are just as excellent as all the others in this album.
Whoever says that Severe Torture sounds like Cannibal Corpse is an absolute nincompoop. Severe Torture is nowhere near the abysmal level of Cannibal Crock plus they are several times better than CC.
Long live Holland Death Metal and all good Death Metal in particular!!! \M/\M/
SIDE NOTE:
Sorry about my comments about you, Cotton Hell. You may not like Malevolent Creation's "Envenomed" CD but I sure do.

Barbarous!, September 1, 2004
This review is from: Misanthropic Carnage (Audio CD)
Nothing about this album is tranquil - from the get go, the death metal chaos starts and goes full blast until the very last brutal note. I'd call this Cannibal Corpse with less rhythm and groove, provided that there aren't a whole lot of hooks; my impression is that this is just a band to have fun and go wild with. The almost constant double bass drums followed by tons of fast-paced blast beats are thick and have that "bouncy" sound that provide plenty of bone crunching fills. This singer sounds as if he is trying to emulate Chris Barnes' extremely low grunts and growls on 'Tomb of the Mutilated' - only the vocals on this record are significantly deeper on the tonal level. The complex and blistering guitar riffs are seemingly in vein of Cryptopsy's "None So Vile" album with constant tremolo picking that bleeds with ugly and razor sharp melody.
The crystal clear production allows the bass to be heard with ease within the constricting mix of the guitars and vigorously pounds sound into the empty cracks of each song. Occasionally, you can really hear some amazing bass work when it's got time to emerge from following the foundational riffs and shows itself off a little bit with the speed of a machine gun. Structurally, the songs are a train wreck with recursive guitar riffs, but since this is brutal death metal, I don't think many people are going to care about perfect formation. Chances are, if you listen to brutal death metal, you aren't looking for something revolutionary, anyways. More than likely, most brutal death metal bands aren't out to transcend anything; most are just there to have fun, and this album is no exception to the aforementioned claim.
Think along the lines of Wormed, Visceral Bleeding and Beheaded...bands that you can just kick back and violently bang your head along with. Again, this is nothing new to the genre, but it's still consistent, as well as a brutal treat. If you're looking for a good time, put Misanthropic Carnage into your CD player; grab a cold drink, head bang to your heart's content.

Extreme Brutal Death Metal, November 5, 2002
I don't how to begin. This is the most brutal, heavy, fastest, headbanging CD I've ever heard. No one can compete Severe Torture except maybe their future releases. This CD is more technical, faster and brutal than their first "Feasting On Blood". The production is better on this one than their first one. The guitar sounds are amazing, you can hear Patrick doing his solos on bass(amazing)but what has mostly improved were the drums(which you can hear the blast beats this time) and the vocals(which are still very guttural and has some shriek vile screams but you can hear a few words comming out from his mouth). The only little very little negative point that I have to make is that the song are less catchy than on their previous work but heck who cares? You just wanna spin your head until it implodes. And of course the lyrics are not for the weak of hearts. If you couldn't pass the Butchered At Birth lyrics, then forget Severe Torture because they're gonna make you scream to death. And finally their cover which is simply mind-blowing( the uncensored of course but unfortunately they made a censored cover throughout alot of countries which sucks). Anyways EXTREMELY HIGH RECOMMENDED for death metal and brutal death metal fans. Severe Torture will dominate in the future. See ya
