Post-brit-pop's best kept secret,
This review is from: Misc. Music (Audio CD)
While it's true that Unbelievable Truth's front man Andy Yorke is the brother of Radiohead's living legend Thom, their sounds are miles apart. Yet genius obviously runs in the family. Misc. Music is a treasure! The first two albums took a few listens to grow on me (an ironic indication of quality) and before I knew it, I was in love with every song. At that point I knew I was ready for this one. The live stuff alone is worth the trouble- some highlights are Landslide, Higher Than Reason, Covers, and Building. Among the live songs are a few gems that don't appear on either of the studio albums. The other disk in the set is a collection of b-sides and unreleased songs. I have to admit, I was somewhat hesitant- B-side collections can be risky (it would stand to reason that they're B-sides for a reason), but this one is certainly an exception. Overall, I believe these b-sides are even better than the previous albums. In The Beginning, Mea Culpa, and Disaster are my favorites. I'll go out on a limb and say that Disaster is the best Unbelievable Truth song period. I believe they are post-britpop's best kept secret, but it is unfortunate that they are so under-rated.

35 TRACKS FROM THIS GREAT OVERLOOKED BAND,
By experimusicdotcom "experiment with music" (united kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Misc. Music (Audio CD)
Now sadly defunct, many saw this album as another way for the band to make some money but even so, fans need this album. The first disc contains previously unreleased material and remix tracks. The remix of 'Building' is very similar but the remix of 'Landslide' is great. Other stand out tracks on disc 1 include tracks 3, 5, 7, 9, 10 and 16 of which 9 is the best. Thats 8 great tracks (6 new, 2 remixes) on just the first disc. On the second disc, the Unbelievable Truth's last gig. This is basically there best of containing the best Tracks form both there albums. I reccommend Misc.Music to a fan buying a UB album for the first time because its basically there best of and more. P.S -I can't believe that i am the first reviewer to rate this. It just goes to show how under-rated they are (and its the same story in the UK). All specialist indie fans need this.
