Book Description

0415254884 978-0415254885 July 10, 2001 Rev Sub
Approximately one in four pregnancies ends in miscarriage but for each woman the experience is unique. This sympathetic and helpful book explores the many different ways in which women physically experience miscarriage and emotionally react to it. Drawing on the experiences of over 350 women, it will help every woman who has miscarried make sense of her loss and find her own way of coping with the confusion that frequently follows.

Many aspects of miscarriage are covered including difficult issues that are often avoided:

* the nature of the loss: tissue, embryo, foetus or baby?
* guilt about an earlier abortion
* explaining miscarriage to other children
* the effect of miscarriage on a relationship
* returning to work after miscarriage
* coping with repeated miscarriages.

The text also provides a set of guidelines to good practice for professionals, based on what women say they find helpful. Professionals who want to evaluate their own practice or develop the service they offer will find this an invaluable reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good reading for anyone who has ever endured a miscarriage, July 9, 2001
After my loss I could find very little information on miscarriage. I had so many unanswered questions and nobody to turn to.

'Miscarriage : Women's Experiences and Needs by Christine Moulder' didn't just explain to me what had happened but helped me to accept my emotions and fears as being completely "normal".

Though reliving my experience through the experience of those in the book was painful, it also helped me feel less alone in my grief. It also gave me the tools to cope with friends and family.

I would highly recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book for dealing with the emotions of a misscarriage, March 3, 2004
By A Customer
Out of the four or five books I bought when I lost my baby, this book was the most helpful in dealing with the emotions brought on by the loss. It is a collection of stories and experiences of other women, and made me feel like I wasn't alone, and that I am normal.
I recommend this book to any woman dealing with a pregnancy loss.
