4.0 out of 5 stars A Poetic Opera....With A Deep Message., July 20, 2007
By Carlos A. Cook (Columbus, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a great "collabos" CD. I mean it starts with "Kansas City Shuffle (Intro) and is a mad shocker! These cats are trying to pick up a hootchie and she straight jacks 'em! "Midwest Choppers" Hell yes!!! Classic Tech N9ne! This is a poetic track about rappin' and being at the top of your game! Dalima & D-Loc rap their asses off!! Krizz Kalico finishes this track off phat! "Misery" has Tech showing his gangsta prowess, don't cross Tech & his crew or go that life hereafter for real!!

"That Box" is my favorite song on the CD! It's definitely a Strange Music reunion. Skatterman & Kutt Calhoun have sweet ass freaky rhymes. They are looking for that maximum sex! It's all about getting that trim! The imagery is truly brilliant in this song and women will get wet! "Gangsta Shap" is like a gangsta walk...Kutt Calhoun is absolutely amazing here! The beats are mad fresh! There is homage to the other old school rappers, like LL Cool J. "Sex Out South" has our boys Kutt & Krizz teaming with Tech once again! We see them out getting trim, mad loving going on here and it is extremely graphic. Kutt shines mad on his flows, delightfully freaky too.

"Get Ya Head Right" has Tech chillin after a hard days work, getting rewarded with gettin' some straight "brain"! Money Hungry sings that lovely R&B style chorus (Way to go girls!) Snug Brim's sweet smokin' and affirmations make me want to hang with these cats, just to relax! "Fan or Foe" is all about those fake cats who jock you for fame, but they may have ulterior motives. T-Nutty has a deep flow here that gets the point across. "Girl Crazy (Crazy Love) is a solo track by Tech. All these women keep jockin' our boy and he just keeps getting his groove on, a true playa love song. And the girls keep coming back, way to go pimp!

"2 Piece" has a sort of reggae beat all about that street fightin' and set protectin'. Big Scoob is straight gangsta pimp. Joe Vertigo has street smarts that makes this jam awesome! Tech just takes it to another level with his affirmations of what will happen if you step up! Krizz Kaliko back up his cats with his bass in the background, sort of a fast punch, if you will. "Big Scoob" is one bad brother! He is the pimp of the hood and is out to get his! Tech has his game on lock and Big Scoob is there to back him up for real! "Yes Ya Can" has a bandalero beat. Shadow has funky, soul tinged rhymes, which makes this cut smooth. Tech comes in to throw the mack and he knows how to handle his. Big Krizz Kaliko comes in a little different and raps smooth, so smooth in fact that it almost sounds like he's singing.

"I Can Feel It" finds that our homie's wife has cheated on him, ouch, and he handles business. This is gangsta to a trifflin' ho! The spoken verses remind me of Vincent Price in MJ's Thriller! "Karma (Skit)" is a for real thang! Basically, what goes around comes around. "You Don't Want It" is eerie. Mr. Reese adds an old school rap feel. His rhymes are crisp and clear! Big Krizz Kaliko adds a gangsta affirmation and Prozak adds a tinge of gangsta rock, especailly his reference to the end of conflict!

"Message To The Black Man" is poetic and prolific, he is giving a history lesson for all the brothers and sisters out there. However, he isn't getting any support from the people he has support for. He also frowns on illegal downloading and bootlegging, as an artist, I say amen to that! Maybe he feels that their disloyalty makes him out to be a sellout, when he is only trying to support his family. "The P.A.S.E.O" is an R&B type jam, giving homage to his growing up and how he was living in his hood. He gives love to his family for real! Even if he has to apologize for some of his actions, he makes amends and is comfortable with his decisions.

This CD is a poetic gangsta opera! I love the parable like stories and it makes one wonder if they really have it bad in their neighborhood and if so, to make the best with what you have. (The only reason I gave this 4 stars, is because this is s poetic opera as to where he came from, whereas Everready had more of a rap style to it.) This a brilliant CD and if you like poetry, personification and CDs that tell a prolific story, then this disc has it all and more. Much love to Tech N9ne for doing this CD, thanks brother!

5.0 out of 5 stars Down and dirty! , July 17, 2007
This cd is awesome. Tech rips his flows, as always, and his guests such as Prozak, T Nutty and Big Scoob all drop fire with their own unique styles. Not only are the flows great, but the beats are all on point. Tech has really compiled some bassy, down and dirty beats for this one. Anybody who knows Tech should definetly pick this up, and anybody who isn't familiar with Tech should check this guy out, it's definetly worth it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not Solid., July 21, 2007
This album is good, but it's not as solid or captivating as Everready. Sometimes the featured artists really add to the song, but at other times they kill the momentum and intensity. Also a few of the choruses are kind of weak, but overall it's still a good album worth buying. Highlights are That Box, Fan or Foe, 2 Piece (amazing chorus) and You Don't Want it.
