Product Description

A smooth necklace with a beautiful metal pendant you can attach your Shine to. When you don't want to wear anything on your wrists and you don't have pockets to clip anything to. Great for a night out on the town or everyday wearing that's out of the way.

It's supposed to track sleep, but I would wake up with it under me every morning.
Dean
The plastic piece that holds the necklace closed is always breaking and the Misfit shine always hangs loosely whenever that happens.
K. Casanova
This is better than wearing the shine on the wrist, but the clasp keeps coming apart.

I bought the Misfit Shine after giving into the onslaught of advertising. Excited about the idea of wearing a fashionable activity tracker, I bought the necklace as well.

This thing is a total ripoff for $50. First of all, it's long and not adjustable -- however not long enough to be looped around twice as suggested in the picture. It falls in that perfect awkward length where it's just below the neckline of most of my shirts, but not long enough to pass it so I was constantly flinging it around to untuck it out of my shirt.

The chain is plastic and cheap and the fastener disengages easily. It says appropriate for swimming, but I would be surprised if this remained fastened with some vigorous swimming. The pendant is decent enough, but not worth $50 on top of the $100 you'll pay for the Shine. I'm the type that NEVER returns anything from Amazon, and I'll be sending this back in the mail tomorrow.

Don't waste your money. The Shine comes with a loop fastener which would be better worn on a chain of your choosing. Save your money from this junk.

Look, I like my Shine. I think it's a nice piece of hardware with some caveats that does the job it advertised. However, this necklace that you are viewing is not a nice thing. It is a $50 necklace that feels like a $5 necklace. The shine feels like it's going to pop out any second while inside, and there's a shiny ring around the inner edge that scratches if you so much as breathe on it. (also, I'm pretty sure it was scratched brand new out of the box, but I cannot confirm) It's too short (only got down to a little under my collarbone) and the holder part of the necklace feels more like plastic than metal. Clasp holds well, though.

I tried to use it during the day to see how many points I got while moving around and it barely registers anything at all while inside the necklace. I'm not sure if it was the shine or me, but if you're considering using this day-to-day, don't.

You know, that's a good word to sum up this whole review. Let's end with it.

Don't.

My necklace came apart and I lost the Shine. The black band came out of the metal piece. The black band is just stuffed into the metal piece. No glue or notching or anything to keep the black band into it's metal piece. Do not buy this!

In contrast to the other reviews, I actually like the necklace because it makes the shine much more practical and usable for me. I realized this the day I wore short sleeves with a shine on one wrist and my watch on the other. I looked silly, so I tried the necklace and I'm happy I did.

It's actually kind of trendy-tech fashionable in combo baby-blue and gun-metal. Its appropriately subtle, only kind-of pops out of the collar line when I wear a v-neck so it only gets attention from observant people and becomes an interesting conversation point.

It still reads my steps (I don't know how!) so I don't bother with the wrist band anymore. But warning its not good for bike riding. For biking I think it has to go on the shoe.

I returned this, then I returned my Shine. This necklace is poorly made. The strap is rubbery and stiff and doesn't hang right. The clasp kept coming undone, during the day and also at night. It's supposed to track sleep, but I would wake up with it under me every morning. Then, it broke completely. As another reviewer mentioned, the strap is just jammed into the metal housing for the clasp, so it just pops out. Very poorly made.

As an aside, I returned my Shine too, because it was vastly inferior to even the older generation of Fitbits, like the Flex, in pretty much every way. The software was clumsy, the metrics were way off, the sleep tracking didn't really work (even when it stayed on all night). The only thing it has over the Fitbits is the battery that gets replaced every couple months rather than recharged every couple days.

The flimsy clasp on the cord came loose and I almost lost the shine first day I wore the necklace. I was lucky to find the Shine after I discovered that it has fallen off. Since the necklace is a gift, I made the best of the situation by cutting off the cord, threading a 24" cord through the pendant loop and tying a tight knot on the cord. I now have a great looking pendant with exact cord color and length. It makes a great conversation starter.
If you want to wear your shine on the neck, I recommend not buying the Misfit Necklace. Instead, hang the magnetic clip that comes with the shine around a cord of length, width and color of your choice.

The pendant itself is great, and I love wearing my tracker on a necklace, because I don't like wearing watches very much. This is why I've chosen the Misfit Shine over all the other fitness trackers on the market, even though some of the features on the app (such as sleep tracking) are still in the beta phase. It's a really minimalistic and versatile tracker that's waterproof and doesn't look like a plastic watch.

However, the clasp of my necklace broke quickly, the end of the plastic cord came out of the metal clasp. It could be easily fixed with superglue, but I took the pendant off the plastic cord and put it on a cotton cord necklace instead. Now it's perfect.
