Fish-Marillion's Best Album Given the MLPS Format Treatment!,
By
This review is from: Misplaced Childhood (Mlps) (Audio CD)
Marillion is still around touring and their first lead singer Fish is now a long gone memory for the band but for me this album is the band's best work and certainly the best with Fish on lead vocals. "Kayleigh" has gone on to become a well-deserved rock classic but the rest of the album is also very strong in this neo-progressive rock offering which shows the band's obvious influences such as classic progressive rock bands like Yes and especially Peter Gabriel-Genesis. Fish even sounds like a cross between Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins and I had the impression I was listening to a more melodious and hence more accessible version of Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. Fans are in for a treat as this mini-lp replica sleeve (mlps) version is very well designed and assembled and ranks among the better mlps releases that I've ever seen. Also included is a foldout containing all the lyrics in both English and Japanese. The all-important sound quality is also very good.
For fans of early Marillion this mlps release comes highly recommended! |
