This review is from: Miss Charity's Case (Zebra Regency Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Blurb: At six-and-twenty, Miss Charity Stuart, daughter of Bridgeton's late minister, was on the shelf. But she believed that her pretty younger sister could still snare an aristocratic suitor--especially when the invitation arrived from their blue-blooded great-aunt. En route to London for the Season, the sisters stopped the night at an inn...where Charity was shocked to find herself the object of an impertinent stranger's bold blue-eyed gaze! What could the devilishly handsome Lord Blackburn want with a flame-haired, sharp-tongued, over-the-hill spinster? Soon the whole ton was buzzing...and Charity's heart fluttered each time the notorious nobleman came near. Yet in a town filled with intrigue and dangerous secret, would romance with a rogue sweet Charity toward ruin--or a once-in-a-lifetime love? I really liked the intention of the story plot--it had loving sisterhood relationships, intriguing mystery of espionage, and hero/heroine's love-at-first-sight courtship. However, the presentation of the story was the down-fall of this book--it had too many cat-and-mouse game, too many unfortunate (or deliberate) interruptions, too many dragged-on misunderstanding which could easily be cleared away, Miss Charity's occasional sensibility... And there were also many incidences were left without satisfactory explanations. It probably would be better to just kept it sample and concise, perhaps the rating would be higher then.
