This tape is set up like one of teacher Christy Curtis's real jazz-dance classes for kids, but adult veterans of aerobics classes will recognize the warm-up exercises and floor work (including the dreaded crunches) and some of the steps, like the grapevine. Curtis is friendly and enthusiastic as she leads her eight students--six girls and two boys ranging from about 5 years old to early teens--through the moves. The 35-minute tape is helpfully repetitive and, unlike a real class, there's always the rewind button if needed. This video lesson would be particularly useful for parents trying to gauge their youngster's interest in dance before making an investment in classes or to those who want to spark some interest in physical fitness--for their children and themselves. There's nothing like seeing a bunch of kids whizzing through the steps to get adults off the couch and on their feet!
