This tape is great! Both my five 1/2 year old daughter and ten year old son like it, and that's saying a lot for it to be "cool" enough for my son. The girls wear traditional leotards, but the baggie clothes that the boys wear have turned this video into a "hop hop" video for him --- my son (and daughter) have been doing this video every day since we bought it last week! The way Miss Christy teaches this is so well done I can't say enough about it. She teaches basic steps, a few at a time, for example, step touch, step touch, grapevine, then she speeds them up, then goes over them slow again, then speeds them up, then goes over them slow again, then moves on to the the next moves. It seems just when my kids are getting lost, she reviews. "Look mom I'm getting it," is what I'm hearing. This video has turned my kids on to learning jazz. Even my five year old is catching on. This is a well thought out introduction to jazz dance for kids, or adults who have no background. I don't expect it to lose it's appeal once my kids have mastered all the moves completely (almost there) because Miss Christy keeps it moving by doing the explaining while she dances. I recommend it highly!

As an adult, I enrolled in a jazz class, not really knowing much about it. After the first class, I realized that I needed to learn more about jazz steps. I ordered this video and found it extremely helpful. The video follows the structure of a real dance class with beginning stretches,floor exercises then center work. Miss Christy's directions are easy to follow and the energy of her young dancers is contagious. My 9 year old daughter is also having fun with the video which we have done over and over again. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to learn basic jazz steps
