Refreshing Romantic Comedy,
This review is from: Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind (Avalon Romance) (Hardcover)
I was excited to read this book but wasn't expecting it to be so funny. The characters are so well developed I am already hoping for a sequel and I just finished this two days ago. Definitely one of the best books I've read in years.

"Classic" Regency,
By Joyce DiPastena (Arizona) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind (Avalon Romance) (Hardcover)
Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind was reminiscent of the "classic" Regency romances that I grew up with. A delightful comedy of errors, filled with sparkle and wit. I read the bulk of this novel during a flight from Arizona to Utah, and literally fell into a giggling fit during one section of this book. Thankfully, the flight wasn't full and the seat next to me was empty, so I didn't have to explain my embarrassing outburst. A book that literally makes me laugh out loud is rare these days. Brava, Ms Ashworth! I look forward to her next Regency!

This book is like a good flirtation: light, airy and fun. I particularly enjoyed Lucinda's character. Definitely enjoyable!

A delightful story,
This review is from: Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind (Avalon Romance) (Hardcover)
This was such a fun read. I am an Austen fanatic, so this was right up my alley. The dialouge was quick and witty, and the development of the romance was clever, with just enough unexpected turns to keep you reading. It was so fun to fall in love vicariously, right along with Miss Delacourt. Highly recommended!

Miss Delacourt Spoke Her Mind, Now It's My Turn!,
This review is from: Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind (Avalon Romance) (Hardcover)
Sir Anthony is cajoled by his grandmother to escort young, beautiful Ginny Delacourt to the country, where they will check on the dowager's prize roses. However, they are accosted on the highway, and are rescued by the Barringtons (with whom they are already acquainted) who live nearby. Due to a quarantine at the house of this well-to-do family, Sir Anthony and Ginny are forced to spend a great deal of time together, and the sparks fly.
Throw in the hilarious, self-affected, but good-hearted Lucinda (Mr. and Mrs. Barrington's eligible daughter), and the handsome-but-not-a-whole-lot-upstairs Lord Avery (who fell victim to the quarantine while visiting), and shenanigans with plenty of intrigue are around every corner! Sir Anthony is the perfect balance between cad and gentleman, while Miss Delacourt is a sweet, strong, intelligent young woman who can stand on her own two feet without being brash. This book is a rare gem. It's difficult to find a clean romance that is not only wholesome, but is also fascinating, hilarious, and well-written. I laughed out loud several times while reading, which is not a common occurrence for me. Ms. Ashworth is a talented writer, and gives all her supporting characters such personality and presence that they are as memorable as her main characters. I enjoyed this read thoroughly, and am eagerly anticipating Heidi's next book. If you love regency romance or are a fan of romance of any sort, I highly recommend Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind!

Great Summer Read,
This review is from: Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind (Avalon Romance) (Hardcover)
Ginny is the niece of a dowager who LOVES her roses. The dowager can't get into town to check on her roses or make sure that someone doesn't steal any clippings of her prized roses.
The dowager schemes to get Ginny engaged and sends her to check on the roses with Sir Anthony as an escort. Sir Anthony is very proper while Ginny speaks her mind and neither care for the other. But from the beginning fate conspires against the couple. They are stranded by a highwayman and thus starts their adventure. Ginny and Sir Anthony are forced into each others company as they are stuck at a family members home and the battle of words, wit and misread cues are constant. Both Ginny and Sir Anthony soon find themselves drawn into games and trying to reveal the real person in each other. And the dowager roses....you'll have to read the book to find out! Great book for summer reading!

I enjoyed this book immensely! All of the characters were well developed even the secondary ones. The story was fresh and engaging. I especially enjoyed the balance between romance and comedy. This is a perfect book to settle down with on a cold winter afternoon! Enjoy!!

Tea Time for your soul,

Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind (Avalon Romance)
Wouldn't it be nice to be transported to a safe place in a simpler time for a cup of tea and a chat? Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind, with its delightful but flawed characters, can transport you to that cozy world. Miss Delacourt and her dashing hero are waylaid by thugs and confined to their rescuers home due to an outbreak of pox. It takes a bit of imagination to maintain decorum and defy boredom. The traditional Regency is distilled to a small cast in a house-bound setting full of wit and charm.

My wife loves romantic stories, so I was pretty confident that she would enjoy this book. It turned out that she loved it! She read it, then had my daughter read it, then read it again. Finally, I decided to read it. I must say, this is a good book. This is not just a good romance story - this is a good story, period. It is entertaining and fun. I would recommend this not only for women, but for men who enjoy a fun story as well.

I got this book and finished it by the next day as I didn't want to put it down. It took me a bit to get into the first two chapters, but then I was completely hooked. So wonderful. If you are a fan of Pride and Prejudice style books, this is a great read! I am definitely going to go buy the squeal can't wait to see what happens next.
