Book Description

June 11, 2007
People love their dogs and many bring them everywhere, as evidenced by their no-longer discreet appearances on subways, at cafe tables, on the job, and in shops. But dogs are only welcome in places where they behave. Well-mannered people and their well-mannered pets are more pleasant to be around, treated better by everyone, and invited to more places, including restaurants, parties, and holiday homes. Aware that "good dogs are trained dogs," there's an etiquette to dog ownership - and it's not always the dog who needs to learn a few things about proper manners. Etiquette and pet expert Charlotte Reed discusses decorum for every occasion in a dog's life, guiding pet parents on acceptable behaviour for both themselves and their dogs. Reed provides tips for: behaving at home and on the street; eating in or going out; extending pet courtesy to others in places of business; being mindful of others while traveling; and treating veterinarians, pet sitters, and dog groomers with respect. Pet owners learn how to behave appropriately in all kinds of situations, making them model pet owners, good neighbours, excellent customers, exceptional hosts, and welcome guests at the homes of friends and family.

I have seen Charlotte on numerous morning shows discussing a wide variety
of pet topics and have always been impressed. I read her book from cover to cover and thoroughly enjoyed the anecdotes which were right on the money and made the book user friendly. It far surpassed other training books I've read and will certainly reccommend it to my clients!

5.0 out of 5 stars Doggie Etiquette from the East Coast, July 2, 2007
This review is from: Miss Fido Manners Complete Book Of Dog Etiquette: The Definitive Guide to Manners for Pets and Their People (Paperback)
If your life includes a furry friend then Miss Fido Manners Complete Book of Dog Etiquette is a book you'll want to add this to your collection--especially in today's complex world of inter-species soirées.

In my opinion, mannered mutts rule while the others simply drool.

So, if you hate when dogs jump on people only to hear, "Oh! its okay"--when you know it isn't--you'll find this book a great reference tool.

In addition to short tips and snippets of information, you'll find product recommendations and useful website links.

Some of the topics you will find are home and office manners, proper child and neighbor relations, street smarts, restaurant rules, parties and gifts, pet professional protocols, and more.

Make sure you raise a sophisti-pet by using some of the newest tips and hints in books such as this one...and if you have someone who has a delinquent dog it makes the perfect gift!

Puh-leeze, people! A book that reminds you to get your dogs' clothes dry-cleaned??? I'd like to think this was a send-up of other etiquette books, but so help me, Miss Fido Manners appears to be sincere.
In the (real) dog world, "manners" refers to the basic obedience skills that enable the puppy to interact with other dogs and humans: sit, down, stay etc. along with not jumping on guests and properly greeting other dogs. There are literally dozens of books to assist the human teaching these skills. Classes are also recommended.
So, if you had to choose, would you rather have a cleverly dressed little darling pulling you down the sidewalk, or a dog wearing only a collar who walks on a loose leash?
