Miss Jaster's Garden,
By A Customer
This review is from: Miss Jaster's Garden (Hardcover)
This is a book I remembered fondly from childhood. I always thought about the beautiful artwork, the lovely story and the lesson that accompanied it when read to me by my mother. I loved to look at the map of the area where Miss Jaster lived and pretend I was there. It is a beautifully written, exquisitely illustrated story of an unlikely friendship. It was so lovely, it stayed with me until I decided to buy it again in my 30's!

I am thrilled to find that this book is again available. It was one of my very favorites when I was a child, and I have tried to find it for other little girls, but until now, it was out of print. I think I will order several copies to keep on hand for gifts. The illustrations are wonderful. The look on Hedgie's face as he dances makes me laugh out loud just to think of it, and the story is so sweet.

This was one of my favorite books as a child too. I am happy to see that others love it so much as well. The illustrations are absolutely wonderful. I am very upset because I have managed to lose my copy that I had as a child, and I want so badly to be able to read it to my son.

Charming and Funny,

This review is from: Miss Jaster's Garden (Library Binding)
This was one of my favorite books as a child (about 25 years ago) and I still love it. I love the way Hedgie is so gentle with Miss Jaster and himself. And how the flowers blooming on his back are like a release of joy he didn't realize he had. I like the humor too, especially as Hedgie imagines what might grow on him. I also love the illustrations. And it even has a map in the book cover!

My children were given this book when little. It is a very heart warming story and was always one of their favorites. Now I have the joy of giving them the opportunity to read this book to their children. One has a boy and a girl while the other has a little boy. Now the grandchildren can enjoy bedtime stories as their parents did!

Like another reviewer, I loved looking at the map of Miss Jaster's garden as a child, and the story stuck with me for decades. I was so happy to find a copy of it to give to my daughters, who love it. The story is unique and warm and sweet.

I'm so happy to see that this book has once again become available for more generations to enjoy. I belonged to The Weekly Reader Book Club for many years as a child, but this was one of my favorites. I highly recommend it. When I left my parents home 26 years ago, I took only 3 of my childhood books, this being one of them. I reread it every couple of years, and am as delighted by the story AND illustrations now, as I was when I first got it.

This is a delightful book for children of all ages. Especially people who enjoy animals, observing the natural world and who have a sense of humor. If you are too old for this book I think you have a problem.

Add mine to the list of 5 star reviews. This book is so charming I wish I could squeeze it.
And the best part--I never tire of reading it over and over to my kids.
