Love using this product on my hair.

If this is your 1st time trying this product, save some money and buy the small 2 oz jar before taking the leap into the bigger sizes.

So, the value on this relative to other products from Miss Jessie's is tremendous.

This product is really a great thing for naturals to try. It provides excellent slip, definition, and hold on wet two strand twists. It's not perfect. But what product is perfect? The secret to making this work well is a bonus: try to use it as sparingly as you can because if you use too much, you will see flakes. Also, another product with more weight/moisture is needed to complement the Meringue, in my opinion. So, that's exactly what I do. I've complemented it with Frederic Fekkai's piecing and forming wax (super for twist definition and style longevity); with Carol's Daughter's Mimosa Hair Honey (a little too much on the oily side, but great for sheen and maintaining separation between individual twists when they are taken out); and with random butters that I have mixed.

Overall, I think Miss Jessie's products do not carry enough weight/moisture (for me). I like to feel the moisture in my hair for several days out after a wet two strand twist. I have tried the buttercreme and the pudding, and they did not provide enough moisture. The Meringue doesn't either, but what wonderful slip! My hair is so smooth and silky once this product touches it! For this reason, I think this product is awesome! And who new? You don't even need to use that much of it for each application. I actually stopped buying the 16 ounce jars because they lasted too long. The Meringue is also on the lower end of the price spectrum for Miss Jessie's products. So, the value on this relative to other products from Miss Jessie's is tremendous. The main drawback is that you need to complement Meringue with at least one other product to lock in more moisture for wet two strand twists.

My last review comparing Miss Jessie's, Carol's Daughter, Mizani and Pantene products for black hair was pretty well-received, so I thought I would do an update on Miss Jessie's products. Just tried Curly Meringue and Quick Curl.

Miss Jessie's Curly Meringue is the answer to all of us who saw that the line's Curly Pudding did not work on most Type 4 (kinky and coarse) African American hair. To get the "shingle curl" that is advertised with Curly Pudding on Type 4 hair requires so much product that next day hair is gunky, hard to-the-touch and also difficult to manage. Having that type of hair, I can truly attest that Curly Meringue gives you bouncy curl without the hardness. Next day hair is touchable, though a bit dry. I address the dry factor by ignoring the directions; instead of gopping it into the hair, dampen the hair with a light spray of water, then put a small amount just on the fingertips; spread that along a l inch shaft and follow it with a two strand twist, coil or finger rake the section. You will love the result. If doing an overnight twist or under the dryer set, I add a small amount of Pantene's Creme Moisturizer for African American hair, and the result is soft, springy curls for a beautiful, shiny twist-out. Miss Jessie's has the right product for setting; strange that they continue to offer it through the false advertising of pretending users can get the curly look seen on their models without setting; clearly those model's looks have been produced by stylists on perfectly cut hair.

Some tips for those who want movement after they open the set: don't forget to run a cool blow-dryer through your opened twists. That will make them move.

Miss Jessie is OK but it is very expensive. There are more products that will give you better results. Before purchasing this product check out mixed roots curl pudding. You pay $14 for the mixed roots product and receive more for your money.

Miss Jessie should consider lowering her prices or provide more product. You can get some of the same results with gel. Believe me, I know. I have been natural for 3 years.

After listening to all the hype I decided to break down and give it a try. I have 3c, 4a corkscrew curls that are pretty well defined with a good leave in conditioner. I have to say the curly meringue and the curl pudding have been officially placed on my waste of money list. The cost is high, higher than justified, so that was issue number one. Issue number two, the smell, not so great. Issue number three, left my hair feeling dry and a little crunchy, even after putting some leave over the next few days to try and soften up the crunch and rehydrate my hair. In the end, I was grateful I bought the stuff at Target because I returned it to the store with my receipt and got my reliable Kinky Curly leave in and curl pudding instead. For those looking for a good alternative to Kinky Curly, go with As I Am from Sally's Beauty Supply or Darcy's Botanicals. Both are less expensive, work excellent and have great moisture!

This product left my natural curls drier and frizzier than if I had put nothing at all on my hair. My hair felt like steel wool. Also the product doesn't smell very nice and has ingredients that just can't be good for hair. If anyone is going to try this....do it on a day you don't have to leave the house.
